| Huang Interviewed - 3/24/08 @ 9:16 pm - By: MikeC - Source: Browsing |
| An article based on an interview with NVIDIA's CEO Jen-Hsun Huang appeared under AMD's financial headlines earlier today. Published at Barron's Online, the contents of the article seemed to give NVIDIA a favorable outlook with investors as shares were up over 8% today. One excerpt from the highly-recommended piece that most, if not all, visitors to nV News will agree with: And another as NVIDIA looks for ways to expand growth by entering markets that were previously dominated by CPU manufacturers: Although it was not specifically stated in the interview, we assume that NVIDIA's CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture) is a key component to the proposed server technology. | Is 512MB Enough? - 3/24/08 @ 5:19 pm - By: MikeC - Source: Forums |
| It depends, but there is nothing extreme about investing in high-priced personal computer equipment and discovering that the 512MB on your graphics card is the weakest link in your system for 3D gaming. In most cases, moving from a graphics card with 768MB or 640MB of memory to 512MB is a downgrade for consumers that own a 30-inch LCD and attempt to game at the monitors 2560x1600 native resolution. During the couse of our reviews, we have experienced game performance on graphics cards with 512MB being affected and in some cases the average frame rate dropped to single digits. The good news is that add-in card manufacturers are starting to outfit their new 8800 graphics cards with more than 512MB of graphics memory such as the 1GB that is featured on the EVGA GeForce 8800 GT.
