  • Updated AnisoBoosterD3D, AnisoBoosterOGL, LODBiasFix, NV25AALines and NVStrapAntiprotection patch scripts for the latest NVIDIA Detonator drivers. Note: due to NVIDIA runtime decryption system and patch script protection system, introduced in the Detonator 44.67, you will not be able to install miniport related patch scripts on the protected drivers (44.67 - 44.71 and 45.20+). However, you can patch 45.20 and newer protected Direct3D drivers using DetonatorFXDecoder utility and DetonatorFXD3DAntiprotector patch script.

  • Full GeForceFX 5900 (Ultra) support including tons of improvements and new features for whole GeForce FX GPU family.

  • NV3x specific separate 2D/3D overclocking is fully supported by RivaTuner's driver-level overclocking manager now. Furthermore, RivaTuner gives you the possibility to disable separate 2D/3D clock frequency adjustment (strictly recommended for NV34 based boards, not recommended for NV30/NV35 based boards).

  • Added NV40 emulation mode under OpenGL / Compatibility settings for the Detonator 5x.xx and higher.

  • Updated NVStrap driver v1.5. Now the NVStrap.sys driver is unified and recommended to use under Windows 9x/ME too.

Gainward Ti4200-8X - 4/17/03 @ 3:15 pm - By: vampireuk - Source: n/a
Volt has just sent word that it is time to unveil his review of the Gainward GeForce PowerPack! Ultra/650-8X XP “Golden Sample”. A thorough by Volt so be sure to get comfortable.:)

For those that don’t know, Gainward has become one of the leading manufacturers of NVIDIA based 3D Accelerators. Ever since the launch of PowerPack! series their cards have gained a lot of respect. The Gainward GeForce PowerPack! Ultra/650-8X XP “Golden Sample” is no different. The board is based on NV28 chip (NV25 with AGP8x). There are no other major differences from a regular Ti4200. You will read more about the features later on.

Alive And Kicking - 3/11/03 @ 8:43 pm - By: MikeC - Source: N/A
I'm still alive and kicking working on our NV31/NV34 preview. After some technical difficulties I had over the weekend, I'm back in business and working overtime to get it completed.

However, I won't compromise a key intent of the preview, which requires careful examination of image quality. It's time consuming work, but did you know there are cases where the image quality found in NV31 Aggressive mode surpasses that of NV25 and NV31 Balanced mode and is closer to Application mode?

But guess what. As I was explaining my findings to the wife she looked at me and said I was nuts. Why are you taking all this time just to expose marginal differences in image quality? She's right, but we're boys with toys, eh :)

I've got a slew of benchmarks with results from each of the three anisotropic settings. And my favorite part is where I get to take both cards for a spin using different settings in four of the most demanding games on the market.

I need a bit more time to wrap this up due to other commitments. The most important of which is watching SteveC pitch in his final year of high school baseball. That means Spring is right around the corner and it's time to Play Ball!

GeForce4 Ti 4200 - 2/23/02 @ 11:30 pm - By: MikeC - Source:
According to DigiTimes, NVIDIA could be holding back the launch of the GeForce4 Ti 4200 to avoid market positioning overlap of products. However, once it does hit the streets, the GeForce4 Ti 4200 will be positioned to replace the GeForce3 Ti lineup.

Card makers said that the GeForce4 Ti 4200 chip should be Nvidia's low-price version of the NV25-core products, designed to replace the company's GeForce3 Ti series. However, as the chip designer only introduced its GeForce3 Ti 500 and 200 chips in the fourth quarter of last year, positioning the new product appears to be difficult, the latest chip in danger of significantly affecting the sales of the older GeForce3 Ti 500 and 200.

Driver Comparison - 1/29/02 @ 7:50 pm - By: MikeC - Source: Maximum Reboot
Been a while since we've seen on of these, but Warp2Search has put together a Detonator driver comparison. The test was conducted using 3DMark2001 with the official 23.11 and beta drivers 27.00, 27.10, and 27.20.

The beta 27.20 drivers are available at 3D Chipset.

Typedef: Mike, you beat me to the punch. The one thing that I think deserves some recognition is the fact that nVidia has been able to significantly increase the Triangle throughput in these latest set of drivers. The 1 light test has increased by 30%, while the 8 light test increased by a whopping 62%! One might conclude that nVidia has uncovered a sizeable performance gain while tuning NV25 drivers. Just imagine how significant the performance might be once the...

Comments On UPT - 1/27/02 @ 7:13 am - By: MikeC - Source: The Tech Report
Mark Rein dropped by the Voodoo Extreme forums (posts 29 and 34) and provided a few comments on the Unreal Performance Test 2002 or UPT. Epic plans to eventually release the bencmark as well as keep it updated with new technology.

The benchmark is designed specifically to push the latest and greatest graphics cards as hard as we can. UPT is about the future, not the present. All of this will become clearer over the next few months. We will also be adding more features and content to UPT2002 to push things even harder. "Influence, Educate and Improve" will be our motto for the Unreal Performance Test. A lot of cool things are planned. In popular game development lingo what you're seeing now are some preliminary results from what equates to an early alpha version. Stay tuned!

HalcYoN: After rereading Anand's performance comparison, the GeForce3, given a driver update on par with DetonatorXP, should be able to handle UT2.  NV25 on the other hand, should slap it around, heh.

RAMsinks Review - 1/16/02 @ 7:55 pm - By: JonathanM - Source: HardOCP
I am pleased to annouce that our Tweakmonster Copper RAMSinks review is up. Enjoy!

Who would have thought back in the days of the Riva 128 or the good old TNT that memory would eventually become a limiting fed for profanity*.

Typedef: That had to be the funniest thing I've read in some time. Which reminds me...I have this one Hotmail contact, who told me that the NV25 will include...

HalcYoN: While I tend to agree that the R300 will not be ready by March, I do not agree with the need to "call people out". I have had my share of disagreements with other webmasters on a number of topics, however I find it unnecessary and unprofessional to post those email exchanges.

Ben: I actually spent the better part of an hour debating whether to post this or not, as I've been called to task before. However in the end, it's always good to know the source of the rumors.

R300 Details Out - 1/15/02 @ 1:07 pm - By: Typedef Enum - Source: Fool
According to the Inquirer, samples of ATI's R300 will be going out to their partners within 2 weeks time. In addition, they also claim that ATI will debut the chip at CEBIT, which I believe is in March.

Recall, the R300 is a DirectX 9 part, and it would take (apparantly) something along the lines of a NV30-class part to go head-to-head with it. The article even classifies the R300 as a "NV25 killer."

Furthermore, don't forget that R300 is designed by ArtX so we're not talking about the same ATI anymore :)

MikeC: I don't know what to think about the folks over at the Inquirer. Referring to NVIDIA as the "Great Satan of Graphics Chips" makes me wonder if they have a hidden agenda.
