NVIDIA GeForce2 Ultra Preview - Benchmarks

Skip To:

GeForce2 Ultra Performance

Time to compare the performance of the GeForce2 GTS and GeForce2 Ultra. As the Ultra provides 33% more memory bandwidth, I ran a series of benchmarks at high resolutions (1024x768, 1280x960, and 1600x1200) in 32-bit color where CPU speed isn't as much of a factor compared to lower resolutions.

After looking at the results, it's clear that the faster rated memory in the GeForce2 Ultra is paying off with huge dividends. The biggest increase in performance came from MDK2 which was up 47% at a resolution of 1280x960 and 73% at 1600x1200.

Is memory bandwidth still an issue? Sure, maybe at 1600x1200 in 32-bit color for these games.
