The GeForce 6800 Ultra contains two new options that will affect the performance and image quality associated with texture filtering. One option is a trilinear optimization on/off switch and the second option is a High Quality Image Setting mode. Benchmark results indicate that the trilinear optimizations feature was functioning; however they do not show any differences in the performance between the Quality and High Quality modes.
Trilinear optimizations had a minor impact on the performance of Enemy Territory.
Enemy Territory Performance
At 1280x1024 and 16X AF, trilinear optimizations affected performance by around 8% in Halo.
Halo Performance
At 1280x960 with No AA and 16X AF, trilinear optimizations affected performance in Unreal Tournament 2003 by 5% to 8%.
