In support of the launch, EVGA and MSI sent us models of their GeForce 8600 GTS based graphics cards.
EVGA provided the e-GeForce 8600 GTS Superclocked model. The e-GeForce 8600 GTS Superclocked ran at a core speed of 721MHz core and memory speed of 1050MHz, which is an increase of 6.8% and 5% respectively over the baseline.

The unit from EVGA turned out to be overclocking-friendly as it reached 766MHz/1170MHz following a run to detect optimal frequencies.

MSI NX8600GTS OC Edition
MSI sent us their NX8600GTS OC Edition, which runs at 700MHz/1050MHz. The packaging is secure and pictured below.

MSI put forth the effort to design a custom cooling solution, which takes up two slots to install. The model was able to reach the same overclocked frequencies as the EVGA model, but with lower temperatures.
