BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC - Page 6 of 6

CONCLUSION

If you've been following the trends of the video card wars, I don't think there's anything I've said in this review that you don't already know. The entire GeForce 6800 lineup is tough to beat in terms of performance. NVIDIA's latest generation cards have added a new dimension to the PC gaming experience. Games are amazingly fast at high resolutions, and they also are absolutely playable when you add anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering to the mix. Where the previous generation cards reached their performance maximums on computers with high-end CPUs, the processor now becomes the bottleneck for this generation.

Here Fishy, Fishy

When it comes down to this particular card from this particular company, BFG is offering gamers a lot of value for the money. First is the overclocking that comes right when you put the card in your system. Next is the quality of the hardware itself. BFG goes to great lengths to ensure only the best components make their way onto cards that carry the company name. This dedication is evident in all areas of image quality, from 2D text to 3D texturing. Color and text reproduction were exceptional on my admittedly second-rate, refurbished Dell monitor. I can only imagine the beauty this card is capable of on a quality 21- or 22-inch display.

The third area where BFG stands out is its warranty and support, which I talked about at the beginning of this review. The fact that you can get support for your hardware at any time day or night is peace of mind that is refreshing. Though nobody wants problems with a $400 graphics card, it's nice to know BFG will be there for you regardless any issues that might come up during installation and use. On this note, I would like to take a moment to plead with users not to abuse the privileges contained in BFG's warranty. People calling support with bogus claims is a waste of time (and money) for the company that could potentially result in either 1) higher prices on cards, 2) a change of the warranty away from true lifetime and/or 3) removal of the excellent 24/7 toll-free phone support. Be smart, you'll make things more enjoyable for yourself and for the rest of us who share a passion for great hardware and great games.

BFG has come to the 6800 GT party with an excellent card that does everything it should and a whole lot more. I've owned many, many gaming cards in my computing life - from a 3dfx Voodoo Banshee to this 6800 GT. My personal favorite has been a Visiontek GeForce3, until now. The BFG 6800 GT OC has taken my gaming experience and kicked it up several orders of magnitude, affording me performance, compatibility, stability and image quality beyond my wildest expectations. Right now we're seeing only a taste of what the 6800 lineup can do. Jump on board and hang on to your mouse - it's going to be a heck of a ride.
