BFG GeForce 7800 GTX OC Review - Page 3 of 10

THE CARD

NVIDIA's decision to provide a panel template for IHV's to then slide in their own graphic was a great move. It adds to the sleekness of the card and makes it an even tighter overall design. BFG's design is nice and clean with their logo and color scheme.

Below are some more pictures I took of the exposed HSF assembly. It is somewhat similar to the 6800 Ultra although the 7800 GTX has a larger heat sink surface area. All of this is done, though, in a single slot solution which is nice.

I especially like the newly designed heat sink for the voltage regulators (the rectangular black heat sink near the rear of the card). The voltage regulator heat sink on the 6800 Ultra does not have near this surface area. The voltage regulators are actually one of the hottest running parts of a video card; this improved cooling design is great to see.

A month or so ago there was some concern about the MSI K8N Neo4/SLI Motherboard's capacitor placement in relation to the 7800 GTX's fan connector. Below, I show that, while close, the issue is a non-issue with the capacitor easily able to be nudged over.
