BFG GeForce 7800 GTX OC Review - Page 7 of 10

DUNGEON SIEGE II

The single player demo of Dungeon Siege II apparently has a frame rate cap. What follows, then, is my subjective impression after having played through the demo numerous times. I did so in resolutions ranging from 1024x768 through 1600x1200 and in all of various antialiasing modes/combinations.

Dungeon Siege II

I'm a big fan of the original Dungeon Siege. Naturally, I have been looking forward to Dungeon Siege II. Something I loved about my BFG 6800 Ultra OC was that I could throw just about any resolution or antialiasing settings at it in Dungeon Siege. The same (or better actually) can be said with the BFG 7800 GTX OC.

No matter what antialiasing modes I tried (even at 1600x1200), Dungeon Siege II never budged from the apparent frame rate cap of ~60 frames per second. Perhaps it is more of a CPU bottleneck issue; time will soon tell as Dungeon Siege II is now popping up on store shelves. The good news is that it was absolutely gorgeous with transparency supersampling and gamma correct antialiasing applied while running smooth as butter.
