Both graphics cards were benchmarked using the aforementioned games. Although I didn't expect the GeForce GT 240 to outperform the GeForce 9800 GT, it was interesting to compare the results and see how well the GeForce GT 240 matches up to the GeForce 9800 GT.
The first tests were run at the modest resolution of 1280x1024. All games were configured to their highest quality in-game settings with no antialiasing and no anisotropic filtering. HAWX benchmarks were run with DirectX 10.1 enabled on the GeForce GT 240. The GeForce 9800 GT was set to DirectX 10, since it is not DirectX 10.1 capable.
Tom Clancy's HAWX
The benchmark results are shown below. While the GeForce 9800 GT outperformed the GeForce GT 240 in all tests, the GeForce GT 240 held its own quite well. All of the games, with the exception of Tom Clancy's HAWX, are close to or above the target 60 frames per second (FPS) that gamers desire.
1280x1024 - Average Frame Rate
The GeForce GT 240 put up decent results running under DirectX 10.1 in Tom Clancy's HAWX. For gamers still running on LCD's at the 1280x1024 resolution, the GeForce GT 240 handles them easily at high settings.
