The initial series of benchmark results are from the resolution of 1680x1050, which is native to most 22" widescreen LCD monitors. Prices of monitors in this range generally start at $170 with models by Samsung and Viewsonic being among the most popular brands.

Average Frame Rate

The chart below shows average frame rate in the games tested on the reference GeForce GTX 280 (green bar) and the EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked (blue bar).

Overall, the average frame rate delivered by the GeForce GTX 280 exceeded the EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked by a little over 10%. The largest increase was 17% in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. with 2x antialiasing enabled.

Minimum Frame Rate

Turning our attention to the all-important minimum frame rate shows the reference GeForce GTX 280 with an overall lead of 8.6%.

At the resolution of 1680x1050, the GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked was a close competitor to the reference GeForce GTX 280 and in most cases will provide a better value for those that game at this resolution.
