Gainward GeForce PowerPack! Ultra/650-8X XP “Golden Sample” - Page 3 Of 17

Contents and Bundle

Besides the video card, you get few more extras. It isn't anything special but anyone can live with it I guess. I my self find Gainward graphics card to be *well* bundled for the price. What more do you need except for drivers, a nice game, DVD software and appropriate cables/adapters? OK, maybe two games, or at least one that recently came out. We will talk about this later. Although Serious Sam: First Encounter has been on the block for quite some time, it's a great game and you will sure enjoy it if you like first person shooters :).

The box it self is well designed and eye-catching. Looks very similar to other Gainward packages.

The card was packaged in electrostatic bag, like most electronic devices. When you take out the card make sure you are static-free. During cold days, you should wait ~1 hour before popping the card into your motherboard. Okay let's get back to to the topic :)

Contents

  • Gainward Ti4200-8X Graphics Card
  • Gainward PowerCD
    • VGA Driver
    • VGA BIOS Flash Utility
    • EXPERTool Utility
    • Adobe Acrobat Reader
    • User's Manual
  • Serious Sam: First Encounter on one CD-ROM
  • Quick Start Manual
  • Gainward case badge
  • Warranty
  • InterVideo's WinCinema for DVD playback / mp3 playback and recording

Unfortunately we weren't able to test the ViVo capabilities, though here is a shot of the composite and S-video connectors along with DVI-To-VGA adapter.

To sum things up. It's time for Gainward to change the theme of their bundles. SS is old and as far as I remember it has been included since GeForce 3. You will probably find WinCinema more expensive than that game. The manual isn't anything special. I'd say it's a cheap design. The print is very small and looks like it's been "Xeroxed". The quality of the font is terrible, so if you happen to be a manual reader, you are better of reading nVnews forums.
