Far Cry was the surprise of 2004, not only for it's unique setting, but also for the technology packed into the engine. Great vistas with a huge amount of foliage, along with great water effects and the incorporation of HDR displays what this forward-looking technology can achieve. The broad range of quality settings can bring even today's most powerful systems to their knees, making Far Cry a great benchmark.

The Shader Model 3.0 path was used for all benchmarking purposes as it not only provided improved visuals, but also improved performance on all SM3.0-cpaable NVIDIA GPUs. Far Cry's beautiful setting portrays the image-enhancing benefits of HDR. Various HDR modes exist for Far Cry by utilizing the "r_hdrrendering x" command in the console. Mode 7 was used for testing purposes.
