  • All applications tested were patched with latest version except I passed on using 1.3 patch with for Far Cry for this review.
  • Antialiasing and anisotropic filtering setting were configured using the graphics driver control panel or in-game configuration panel, as required.
  • Game play tests were conducted with sound options set to each game's default settings.
  • Game play tests were conducted with in-game graphic options set to highest quality.
  • FRAPS was used to capture and compare average frame rates or to confirm frame rates on some benchmarks/games.

OVERCLOCKING
First, the hidden 'Clock Frequencies' panel was activated with the use of 'Coolbits2'. Default clock frequencies were immediately identified as 299MHz on the GPU and 552MHz on the memory as seen in the panel below.

Default Clocks

I ran into a pleasant surprise in testing the overclocking potential of the Gigabyte 6600. The GPU effortlessly clocked at the 600MHz maximum available setting displayed (that is with the slider bar fully to the right!) in the NVIDIA GeForce 6600 control panel as seen in the pic below. Remember, overclock capabilities are dependent upon a number of factors and the 'luck of the draw' must always be considered. With this overclock result card I do not think I will be messing with GPU cooling arrangement!
