I think my favorite part about Serious Sam 2, aside from the gorgeous graphics, is the message that's displayed when you quit the game. "Are you serious?" It cracks me up every time I see it. But anyway, just like F.E.A.R., Serious Sam 2 is a resource hog that is able to put a hurtin' on any hardware that is thrown at it.
For this test, I played the Greendale timedemo and used FRAPS to benchmark the game. The game was played through with two different sets of visual effects: HDR/no AA and no HDR/AA. Because of a bug in the game settings, Medium was the highest AA setting I was able to use, and forcing 4xAA in the drivers had no impact on the benchmark results. Performance was tested at 1600x1200 and 1280x960.
Serious Sam 2 Performance
Somewhat shockingly, the GeForce 7900 GS fell way behind the GeForce 7900 GT and even between the GS stock and GS OC, the difference in performance was minor. That being said, the GeForce 7900 GS seems much better at keeping up with the GeForce 7900 GT when HDR is the main performance killer. But with AA, the GeForce 7900 GS falls by the wayside. Still, for a $200 graphics card, Inno3D's GeForce 7900 GS is doing a respectable job.
