PERFORMANCE AT 1680x1050

In the following series of tests the Inno3D GeForce 9600 GT iChiLL goes head-to-head with their GeForce 8800 GT iChiLL with Artic Cooling. Benchmark results for the resolution of 1680x1050 are shown on this page, while the results for the 1920x1200 and 2560x1600 resolutions appear on the next two pages.

Inno3D's GeForce 9600 GT iChill Hurricane performed optimally at the resolution of 1680x1050, which is native to most 22" widescreen LCD monitors. In this series of tests, the performance of the GeForce 9600 GT trailed the GeForce 8800 GT by 17% across the board.

In titles that feature shader intensive operations, such as F.E.A.R. with soft shadows, BioShock, and Crysis, the additional unified processors give the GeForce 8800 GT a distinct advantage. However, with 4x antialiasing enabled, memory bandwidth became a limiting factor, which brought the GeForce 9600 GT even closer to the performance of the GeForce 8800 GT.

Performance at 1680x1050

At the resolution of 1680x1050, the minimum frame rate dipped below 30 fps on the GeForce 9600 GT in the following tests:

23 fps - STALKER - No Antialiasing
21 fps - World in Conflict Demo - High
14 fps - Crysis - No Antialiasing - High
