I've never heard of this before, as I am using a DVI-HDMI cable and haven't experienced a BSOD of any type, with any of the 163.xx drivers. Could it possibly be related to something else? Maybe I'm just very fortunate!!!!

i don't see how a cable could cause BSOD. It outs side of the video card.

On my HTPC I've been using a DVI-->HDMI for months and i've never had any issues with BSOD's or whatever... I really don't see how that could cause an issue? I know there were some options missing in the early days depending on what cables and stuff you used... but it's been ironed out for the most part? I guess though, my HTPC is only used as a PVR/Vista Media Center... I don't game on it or anything.

Can't say I see any performance improvements (I rarely do with drivers anymore) but I can comment that for me the control panel is about 10x faster than it was with earlier drivers. These seem just fine. No issues here.

You would think.

Started with 163.6x+. older ones worked fine.
I thought it was just a secondary display error, but dvi-dvi wont cause a BSOD.

DVI-HDMI when you switch to the seconday display (or dualview) you get a the second screen for 1-2 secs then crash..

Only thing I can think of is some type of copy protection error? I installed some Vista SP1 hotfixes which is the only thing that makes my system diffrent the most peoples.

Vista 64, C2D @ 3.0 GHz, 680I, 4Gb RAM, EVGA 8800GTS, FW 163.75.

Maybe it's a HDCP thing? or related to the Vista SP1 patches? all I know for sure is that I'm stuck with 162.22 :(

Keeping my fingers crossed for 164.xx

Anyone tried these yet with a DVI-HDMI cable? I seem to bsod with every other 163.xx driver when using one.

Yep, DVI>HDMI works fine here (Vista x64, 1080p).

Yeah that is weird cause this is the driver they list for Vista on the Timeshift Nzone page... I guess they might only check for 76, even this one is the equivalence on Vista.
Altho starting the game with the latest WHQL drivers caused the game to start up on the wrong screen and with other programs flashing through it on and off, so its definitely an improvement in Timeshift atleast hehe.

timeshift needs to fast forward time so we can get the new drivers LOL

Tried'm myself now and got the bsod with dvi-hdmi cable :( works fine if only connected to my old 22" CRT, but as soon as I plug in the hdtv the screen goes black & bsod's on reboot.

Might try another cable since ppl are reporting succes with about the same setup, but I doubt that will be it.

that's the XP driver and indeed Timeshift tells us we have the wrong driver, but the 163.75 is the Timeshift driver for Vista

What can I say but:

UT3, Timeshift, CoD 4, Jericho Demos work.

Currently playing FEAR again and it works.

Still doesn't work on some older games, Vampire Bloodlines but that won't matter much anymore considering Hellgate is around the corner along with Crysis, CoD 4, UT3, Timeshift, et cetera. Only RPG I am picking up in the foreseeable future will be Mass Effect for the Xbox360.

The drivers are getting better, slowly but surely, although with some driver updates they break some things to fix other stuff. Heh :afro:

I get the dreaded Nvlddmkm Stopped responding 5 to 30 seconds on the main menu to Age of Mythology and multiple time with the intro screens to Hitman - Codename 47 with these drivers. Reverting to the tried and true 185.45 drivers fix this.
