View Full Version : FastWrite and SBA
I use the latest NVIDIA driver but the fast write and SBA option seems to not working :
cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status
Status: Enabled
Driver: NVIDIA
AGP Rate: 4x
Fast Writes: Disabled
SBA: Disabled
The "command line" from /etc/modules.conf i use is :
alias /dev/nvidia* nvidia NVreg_EnableAGPFW=1 NVreg_EnableAGPSBA=1
So, how to use it, can it improve openGL performance ?
options nvidia NVreg_EnableAGPFW=1 NVreg_EnableAGPSBA=1
on a single line should do the trick,
man modules.conf micht also help
I add the "option" word like you say but it is always disabled....
This option is enabled with the latest driver ?
you executed depmod after editing the file?
and the driver was unloaded after executing depmod?
cheers
oh, and post the relevant part of your modules.conf
Ooops i writed option with no s ...
It works now but no better performance with this option in unreal tournament 2003 !
thanks....
GForce 2 MX 400 (yes, no SBA option for it) with a Abit NF7-S (nforce2), all with latest driver, and Mandrake 9.0.

cheers
Ok, no enough time to read all of it...
But just for information,
GForce2 MX-400+ intel BX chipset = 4000 fps in glxgears.
Same configuration but replace mobo + proc + network + snd card with a nf7-s said only 800 fps.... beurk !
Under ut2003, look at http://www.tomshardware.fr/article3d.php?IdArticle=220&NumPage=5 (yes in french but i think you can understand). I have an athlon o/c to 2Ghz with busclock at 166, and i make same score...
I think glxgears is buggy ...
(I send a copy of this message to the thread you give to me)
Have nice week-end
