Seems they updated their benchmarks with the new drivers from AMDTI. Single card performance didn't change much, but Crossfire seems to have made some nice progress.

Let me see.....WiC min FPS jumps from 3 to 6 in CF mode, W00T a 100% increase :captnkill: , plus some titles which CF didn't work at all before become working now
There you go, the "magic" driver 7.10 :wonder:

Our numbers are based on AMD CPU's and it turns out that if you do use AMD then you will see more gains.
Sounds like ATI is trying to boost Radeon HD 2x00 and AMD cpu sales with 7.10 drivers :)
If you read his comments he also stated that the exact % are not guaranteed on any system. It could be more or less depending on your system and its specs. You really think AMD is optimizing performance for their competitors cpu's? ....

Well they had better; I sure as hell am not going to be buying a card that only runs at its best on AMD CPU's, and considering the majority of users are using Intel CPU's right now and in the near future that’s potentially allot of lost customers.

LoL at that statement, PR FTL.

Im not sure which is funnier, that PR statement or the fact that you seem to believe it.
.
One of the most annoying things about ATI the last couple of years is their arrogant pr spinners who make grand claims which then turn out to be false or exaggerated, such as R600 destroying Nvidia, Barcelona killing Intel, guaranteed release dates which change six times or new drivers which sometimes are better and sometimes much ado about nothing. IMHO they would be better served by dialing the rhetoric down a notch an performing better as a company.

Who says I believe it? Until there are performance numbers to back it up I won't believe it, just like I won't believe any claims intel or AMD or nvidia or ati make...
But... to think that it isn't possible that the same company might slighty optimize their drivers to run on their platform doesn't seem far fetched... I am sure they aren't spending more time trying to make intel look better, that is for sure.

Only if you use the re-badged FX-60 from the "Do you dare" campaign.

Open yourself up to a jolt of sheer adrenaline — and bring home a beast that leaps and snarls on the end of its leash. Like Mother Nature, AMD has a dark side and you can let it loose.
See? To "let loose" the awesome powers of the "Shoot Em Up" driver you need a FX-60 leaping and snarling in your rampaging, thrusting man box.....

Oh well at least they've almost made GTS 640Mb SLi power with two XTs using filtering.
If their price point was closer to 300 they might be attractive. Too bad the Pros sold out so quickly. Two of those for 270usd or less each with a slight OC would be a decent buy.
If these performance increases carry over to the cooler running higher clocked 2950, we may see something really solid from ATi. Hopefully they will correct the heavy hit their latest cards take from enabling AA.
As far as AMD CPUs go it was shown by X Bit and others they gained more performance wise when move to an x64 OS when compared to Intel. Thing is Core is faster clock for clock and overclocks much higher.
Some folks have made up to 3.4-3.5GHz with the Brisbane 5000+ BE and that's not bad at all. Thing is a much lower running Core will match or pass it.
I wish 'em luck with Phenom. If it rocks, I'll try it.

Man... so glad I kept the 8800 and didn't sell out for 2900.
