If you have ever monitored CPU usage in Call of Duty 2, it's just about non-existent. I remember when COD2 first came out and Gamespot benchmarked the game. Basically, no matter what CPU was used (as long as it wasn't you know, a stock speed Celeron), the performance was the same. It was an uber-tastical GPU hog.

I now have a feeling it will be that way again. I remember my 7800gtx could barely must 30fps at 1280x1024, and a 7900gtx averaged around 40-50fps @ 1680x1050 at best.

Despite it's performance, Call of Duty 2 is still one of the best games I have ever played (singleplayer), and the original still has a great multiplayer. :)

Also, here is the referenced Gamespot article on COD2 performance,

We can all guess and then see who was correct this time tomorrow or so. :)

The official requirements are rather moderate so I think it should run well on newer hardware. Do I know for sure? No, they didn't release much moving footage from the PC version yet but unless they did a totally ****ed up port job, it should play quite a bit better on that ol' 8800GTX of mine here compared to the console version.

Of course we will know for sure tomorrow.

In dx9 mode CoD2 was a hog sure, but actually its performance in dx7 mode was great, and it still looked really good too.

cod2 had one really neat feature and that was no mouse lag regardless of the framerate so even at low 30fps it still felt really smooth... at 60fps it was one of the smoothest games ive ever played

HAHA I guess you didn't use the sniper rifle a lot, scope lag was horrid.
