I just installed Red Hat 9 on my computer. I had to install it using text mode because the screen shuts off when X starts. Setup had probed my hardware correctly, GeForce4 TI4600 and a GateWay FPD1700 Flat Panel Monitor, yet still the screen shuts off when X starts. I have tried different resolutions which did not help either. I was wondering what I could do to get this to work correctly as soon as I run setup or if I have to use text mode and update my nvidia drivers after the install.
Thanks. :)

Do you have an SMP machine?
Please look at http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9614 and include the information asked for in this thread.
Thanks!

I just read in another thread with a similar problem and it was stated that there is a DVI bug with SMP. I do not understand how this would effect me unless my dist of linux installed thinking I had more than one processor.
2Ghz P4 "Northwood"
GeForce4 TI4600
RedHat Linux 9
I'm not sure what driver version comes with RH9, I'll have to check when I get to my computer.
