Zalman eh? How's that work for you? I haven't used a Zalman product in years.

It was sort of a pain in the ass to put together.
The drives were weird cuz of the box they go in had 8 screws 4 under where the drive mouths 4 on the sides but how da hell do you get a screwdriver in there to mount the damn thing. But since i notice the sides come off, that made things much better.
The display isn't bad although irtrans software was a pain in the ass and no IR Blaster was included with the remote and infered reciever on the display.
But with everything all said and done nice piece of hardware, CASE.
I got it for 250 and some change.
But i give it a 7 of 10 in setup and 9 of 10 in looks and component layout.
The Antec ones are very nice but a mini atx is required.

Can't go wrong with Zalman. My Reserator 1 has just been retired, but it's looking to make a comeback with some new tubing and a 8800 block. :D

Zalman definitely makes good stuff.
My home theater pc is the following:
Asrock Conroe 1333-D667 motherboard
Intel Celeron D 3.46ghz cpu
2048mb OCZ PC 6400 ddr2 ram
250gb Western Digital hd
18x LG DVD-RW
Radeon X1550 video card
MSI TV @nywhere Master Tuner
Coolermaster Extreme Power 430
It's in some ancient micro-atx case that I put a big handle on about 5 years ago. I also added front usb and audio that case.
I'll see if I can get a pic of it tomorrow.

It's kinda sad. My system was Zalman everything. Now the only Zalman thing in my case is a sticker. :(
Ah well my HTPC is all Zalman like Bigmans. ;) So is the gfs PC.

Can't go wrong with Zalman.
yes you can ;)
their products are pretty, but when it comes to coolers, there are much much better choices out there.

Pretty damn spiffy though.

Yeah. Zalman are pricing themselves out of the market. My Reserator 1 when I bought it was 300AUD, not too bad for a kit. Now the new Reserator is 500AUD! That's without GPU, northbridge and RAM blocks.

Not thats a nice HTPC case. Very contemporary. Stylish too.
I have my HTPC
Athlon 1800+
1 Gig of pc2700 ram
nforce1 MB
80gig ide hd for the OS
200gig ide drive for recording tv
USB version 2 IDE card
2x Hauppage pvr usb2 tuners
32x liteon dvd r/w
(no video card)
OS: Vista Pro dedicated to MCE
I also have another box on my network
Athlon 1800+
1 Gig of pc2700 ram
nforce1 MB
2x 400gig drive
1x 200gig drive
dlink gigbyte network adapter pci
USB version 2 IDE card
(no video card)
OS: Window Home Server
Then I use my xbox 360 as a windows media extender for playing TV, and to stream music and video from my WHS box. Both PC boxes are generic and I have them hidden, and I'm sure you've all seen a xbox 360.

I notice when playing mp2 recorded video with the 360 extender, why isn't there any sound? only with avi's.

It depends on the audio codec you used

Here's a page that lists a reliable but incomplete list of audio codecs http://blogs.msdn.com/xboxteam/default.aspx

I'm going to start my HTPC/Media Server project starting in January. I have some spare parts that I'll be building upon:
Intel E4300 @ 3.0GHz
Gigabyte GA-DS3L Mobo
2GB PC6400 DDR2 RAM
8600GT Twin Turbo
20GB Hard Drive (for starters)
All I need is a decent case, a new hard drive, a power supply and a HDTV capture card and I'll be set. Also, I'll have to purchase a copy of Vista or XP. I'd like to get a HD-DVD/Blu-Ray drive but they aren't real affordable right now.
Newegg had a CoolerMaster 600-watt PSU on sale today: FREE w/MIR. It sold out fast and I wasn't going to order anything while on campus.
Keep an eye out, my HTPC is coming soon.
