A while back when I wrote my own forum system I decided to rank not based on sheer volume of posts but instead on datalength of the blob converted to Kb. The user that posted more content got ranked higher, instead of volume of posts.

I was up to .5Mb, which is a ton :)

Is there a way in vbulletin to rank POSTS? Engadget does it. Of course, they don't use vbulletin, but if you could show a "post rank status" below your username, that would be cool. It would encourage voting on posts IMO.

You are all forgetting one thing. I hate spam myself, but spam posts=traffic. Traffic=teh win.

remove the post count and add a rep system that only mods can use but everyone can see. problem solved.

the chars/post or total database usage is a bad idea. hell, i could copy/paste all of wikipedia here and get a godlike rank in a few minutes.

No one answered the question about upping your post count withought posting.

Im sure folks here done this hitting 10,000 posts or more cuz i know damn well no none typed in that many threads or posts.

I don't how its done but Xserver used it here getting from 10 posts to 200 posts in a matter of hours not weeks or days. What did he acutally do to up his post count? I know its scripting.

I've been here at nvnews for a little bit of time, in that time BigMan I haven't noticed anyone do that. Udawg seriously spammed the scheisse out of these forums in his day:lol:

10k posts over the course of a couple of years isn't unreasonable. Sad yes, but unreasonable definately not :p

I remember Udawg getting to 20K just a while ago. But when he changed to NVJoe his count all of sudden jumped up to 25K. How's that possible?
