I've been looking for a way to improve gaming experience on my computer.
Basic spec: (could post exact names of each component if needed)
AMD Dual-Core Athlon 3800
2GB Memory
6600GT Nvidia

Alas, I'm a low budget person (ATM) should I upgrade the 6600 to any of the low-budget 8-series cards?

What are your thoughts?

go for the 8600GTS - for roughly 400% performance increase.

I'm running 2x8600gt . My intel e4300 is overclocked to 3.0 from 1.8. My 3dmark06 score is 8800. I paid $100 for each card. I've seen worse scores from best cards. I see nothing wrong with the 8600gt but if I was to do it over I would buy the 8600gts.

I would wait for the 8800GT and get the 256 version at the end of the month.

8800gt is a bit over my budget ATM.

Where I live prices (as far as I could've figured them out) go as follow:

8400/8500 - 75$-100$

8600GT - 150$ ; 8600GTS - 200$

8800GTS - 300$

and currently 150$ is really my roof...
