there is no official time table, no beta, not even an official mention anywhere.
Adobe just being lazy and or stuborn.
"nspluginwrapper (http://gwenole.beauchesne.info/projects/nspluginwrapper/) is an Open Source compatibility plugin for Netscape 4 (NPAPI) plugins. That is, it enables you to use plugins on platforms they were not built for. For example, you can use the Adobe Flash plugin on Linux/x86_64, NetBSD and FreeBSD platforms."
"Gnash (http://www.gnu.org/software/gnash/) is a GNU Flash movie player. Previously, it was only possible to play flash movies with proprietary software. While there are some other free flash players, none support anything beyond SWF v4. Gnash is based on GameSWF, and supports many SWF v7 features."
However, both suck.

I think everyone now is pretty much doing a 32bit chroot for firefox...

Honestly speaking I do that too, but my primary browser is 64-bit, without nspluginwrapper or Gnash. When I retried nspluginwrapper a few months ago (the first try ended with very unstable browser), I found that I liked the Internet far better without Flash. I already filter the HTTP traffic through Privoxy, so there's little point in making ad-filtering more difficult by allowing Flash-animations. If I absolutely need to display a Flash-animation, /usr/local/bin/www32 is my friend. I'm not sure why, but I really hate Flashblock.
Talking of Flash, do you happen to know if one of the early Flash 9 betas with stand-alone flash player would be still available somewhere? Of course a new stand-alone player would also do. No, not Gnash.

I did have it a while ago for the same reason, I don't like flash either, NoScript takes care of most of it or AdBlockPlus. I used Privoxy for a while but didn't like the overhead.
Let me see if I can dig up the stand-alone player.

wnd, here you go, http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/9/flash_player_9_linux_dev.tar.gz
Inside the tarball is the stand-alone player located at ./flash_player_9_linux_dev/standalone/release/

Back in 2000 there wasn't NoScript or AdBlockPlus. All I had was Squid and Privoxy. Squid was sort of overkill for single user, but Privoxy on the other hand could do it all: blocking ads, removal of blink and marquee, and adding links to embedde objects. When I switched to Firefox couple of years ago (because of Rikaichan), I tried AdBlockPlus. The default rules didn't work remotely as well as Privoxy's, and since I wasn't familiar with it, I continued to use Privoxy, and I still do. Nowadays I could replace Privoxy with GreaseMonkey and AdBlockPlus, but somehow the whole process sounds like too much trouble. I'm getting lazy.
And thanks for the link, but that's one of those "not good" versions. So far only the first beta had a stand-alone player with working mouse click event. This one is broken, so the application isn't exactly useful for playing Dicewars.

Weird, I guess it's an x64 issue, I tried beta 2 with stand-alone and it worked with "Tower Defense". I'll see if I can dig it up.
Privoxy does win in regard to it's checkerboard image replacement, adblock can break page layout.
