I've got 3GB in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temp, and I'm wondering if I can clear it out, or if any of that stuff is required for application operation? Since its a temp folder I assume I can delete the contents, but I am wondering why the software didn't do that already.
You can safely delete the entire contents of this folder. Some files may be locked by running applications. That is okay, just skip/ignore those files.
Rant: When you install applications, this temporary location is used. Windows does not effectively automatically clear this folder for some unknown reason, so it is a good idea to clear it out regularly and recover lost gigabytes.
