Well, battery life isn't the best right out of the box. I haven't had time to fool around with disabling services, dimming the screen and so on yet but I plan on it. I would like to get it to have just as good battery life as it does on Vista (2 to 2 1/2 hours). Right now on Ubuntu, I get about 1 1/2 hours. Just watching a 10 min video on YouTube took 18% of my battery! :0
eg, you got any tips for me bro? :D

sudo modprobe speedstep_centrino
sudo modprobe cpufreq_ondemand
Look into powernowd too.

Thanks eg! speedstep_centrino doesn't work (does it matter that I don't have a Centrino?). I was looking all over the place for screen brightness controls but the FN (function) key combination already works! Yay! Battery life is a whole lot better now, but I guess it could be a little better.

Weird, probably another annoying Ubuntu issue. Chk the Ubuntu forums.

Will do. Battery life was pretty decent today in my last class: 40% in one hour so not bad.
