I plan on running it in dx10. My specs are E6300 @1.9Ghz, 2Gb ram, 8800gts 640mb

You better set everything to VERY VERY HIGH QUALITY. Even if you get 10 fps. ;)

The public one won't need a key (most likely) but its a good move by EA to make sure that the pre-order guys get their benefit 24h before the rest of us. I'm willing to bet the retail game will have online activation as well but hopefully it won't be too restrictive like Bioshock activation was at first.
