Hi there
I have just installed redhat 9 and the newest nvidia driver and now all of my opengl games randomly lock up for about 10-20 seconds and then resume. This includes games like RTCW, unreal tournament, and BZFlag.
I would like to try the older drivers which worked fine under redhat8, however they won't compile for redhat9.
I'm using an amptron p4-925lu with a 1.7ghz celeron cpu
the chipset is via p4m266/8235
and the card is a 64 mb gforce 4mx 440-se
any ideas?
Thanks

When i've seen behavior like that in the past, it was usually something other than the NVIDIA drivers causing it. Is your card overheating? Are you overclocking your CPU? Have you tried disabling AGP?

Thanks!

It worked somewhat. The games don't lock up anymore, however they don't run as smooth as they used to. Is there any way to fix that?
I used the Option "NvAGP" "0" line in the XFree86config file to disable AGP
Thanks for the info

does this mean that my nvidia card is performing at the same speed as a PCI video card?
