View Full Version : Windows.old is not available?

I keep trying to delete the Windows.old file when I updated to Vista. It does the deleting process and stuff, but then it stops and it says this,

"Could not find this item

This is no longer located in C\:. Verify the items location and try again."

I CAN delete everything IN the Windows.old file, just not the whole thing its self. I even renamed it and moved it around, and it still won't delete. How do I get rid of this problem without having to reinstall?

Start, Run, cmd.exe /c RD /S /Q C:\Windows.old

I think you can do it in 'Disk Cleanup' too.

I've tried that and in safe mode, I'm going to try the cmd prompt one.

Start, Run, cmd.exe /c RD /S /Q C:\Windows.old

If I type the whole command in, it says "/c" is not reocognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

The system could not find the file specified.

done, deleted, gone for good. I also have the problem but haven't installed Unlocker since going Vista...thx for reminding me.

still not 64bit compatible :(

Is the OP using 64bit? I couldn't see in his sig where he distinguished...but I'll factor that anyway next time I make the reco for this program. I'm on 32bit so I'm OK.
