If it really confirmed then ATI fans will be absolutely devastated with their hopes dashed expected R600 bugs fixed in RV670 along with new features like 2nd gen unified shaders and DirectX 10.1.

Look like Nvidia won again. :)

Lets not count our chickens just yet. We still have to wait to next month to confirm this

Well the rumored XT/HD3870 specs aren't that great:

So they dont have those magical 320 sp's?

64x5=320

And please stop judging about cards you neither have ever seen in action before nor don't have your own. And stop believing Fudo. 8800GT is >8800GTS and <8800GTX and RV670 will be better than R600 so I see them quite equal. Wait for the final reviews, then start flaming.

The 3870 looks to be quite a bit faster than the x2900xt with that core clock at stock. It will be interesting to see how much faster it is even with much less memory bandwidth.

AMDTI count's their shaders differently than Nvidia. The r600 has 64 physical shader units, each can do 5 shader ops per cycle at peak. Nvidia's G8x hardware in comparison has 128 physical shader units, each can do 1 shader op per cycle with an extra MULL in certain situations.

These are just to be the first of the next series. 3870 isnt the top end of the new set of cards thats to beat out the 2900xt. They are to be the 2900pro level card at around 150/200ish. The R670 or (3900?) is to be the better card. And later the dual r670.

Thats.. 13% faster in 3dmark?
Bit missleading way of presenting the scores, only showing the delta.

ATI's newest will be 20% slower than 8800 GT. Partners already know this.

the price has to be 20% cheaper also than the 88GT :)

RV670 final clock could be about 30% slower than Geforce 8800GT.

I don’t know the 8800GT shows impressive results and only has 1800MHz 256bit memory, when comp aired with the GTX with 1800MHz 384bit. Mean while the 3870 has 2400MHz 256bit, which is 19.2GB/sec faster than the 8800GT the core of the 3870 seems to be the same as the 2900XT which with a clock increase. Intill games start using multistage shaders the R6x0 range will always be slower compared to that of nVidia solution. At the moment the R6x00 has so much potential with the insane bandwidth of the 512bit bus, which is not even touched. The high clock speed of a 256bit bus may help more than 512bit as the data chunks are not that high yet to take advantage of the 512bit bus. Kinda like in the olden days ATi had 3 TMU operation but nothing used them as such performed slower than that of the competitor but in games that did support it, it would smoke them. So it is, history is repeating it’s self. nVidia are sticking close to the base requirements, while ATi use them but want to expand from them.

No 1GB variant for the R670 ?

That will be down to AMD's partners if they want to slap on more memory, after all offically the Radeon HD 2900Pro is upto 512MB, but sapphire have 1GB versions of the card.

That's good to hear. I still find it amazing that I paid the same amount for my 8800 GTX a year ago, that people have to pay today. Some competition needs start up.

starting next week. new rumor going to start. ATI will release a new card that will destroy nvidia 1+ year old technology.
