View Full Version : Need Help Building a Intel System
I can't make up my mind, if I should stay with AMD or go to Intel.
What is currently better? AMD or Intel? (I don't want to start a AMD vs INTEL Flame war LoL)
The system I want to build, is mostly going to be used for gaming and encoding.

Gaming and encoding, well you could go either way here as they both have their ups and downs on these two. Personally I go with AMD.

If you want to extract the maximum performance out of a Pentium 4 system, a machine with the Intel 850E chipset and RDRAM is the way to go. DDR performance, however, is consistently improving with Intel's and SIS' chipsets. It really is a toss-up to see how you want to go. I was thinking P4 myself for my last upgrade, but I couldn't find an Intel-based board that had all the features I wanted (8x AGP, parallel ATA RAID, onboard NIC, etc) and didn't cost an arm and a leg. I got an nForce2 system that included serial to parallel ATA adapters still for less money than just the P4 motherboard alone.

yeah, that is something, if you want a great Intel mobo, you gotta shell out alot of cash, just eh, if you decide to go intel, don't buy the first mobo that you see and really like, you'll regret it:D

I second that... The 648 is a major POS.
P4S(ux)8X anyone?
well right now money isn't an issue.

I'd wait for Canterwood. Myself, I have a Granite Bay system, but I had it back in December when it first came out. It's an awesome system though and overclocks well.

Do you know when the Centerwood is coming out?
