"I have a picture of a 198.00 Toshiba a2 on a endcap in walmart. I dont know how to send it. The store I was at had to take the endcap down because its not set to sell until 11/03. It will be in the circular for that week. Each store was allocated 18 units. It is set as a nonreplenishable item. Meaning the will get in whole buys when they ask for them. Meaning walmart. If anyone knows how to share a pic let me know."

Thats a great deal. The A2 is an excellent unit. $198 is a no brainer.
Chris I really think this will push HD-DVD over the top, I am no expert but wow how can you beat that. Even the public (sheep) will buy these things like hotcakes.

I am still waiting for a hybrid player. I hate the idea that you buy one format you get one selection of movies, and the other format gets you another selection of movies. Screw that. I'll just download torrents of hd releases until something viable comes around for once. I don't care if anybody calls me a pirate, this is just stupid.
Could someone buy me one and ship it to ireland :D

Suddenly you don't understand electronics. If you have a 1080p display you will get 1080p.

You gotta give 'em credit, Sony really knows how to brainwash people.

Paypal, but I'd have to see how the Canadian prices are reflected (it should be slightly cheaper, but typically we get screwed).

He doesn't want it anymore. It's only 1080i.

So long as your TV can de-interlace proper there is no difference between 1080i and 1080p.

Is this entirely correct?? I've never entirely understood...
If you are receiving a signal from whatever device at 60Hz and it is sent to a 1080p HDTV, then if the signal sent is:
a) 1080i then for every 1/60th of a second the HDTV receives half of the screen's picture (540 lines) waits for the alternate lines to appear in the next 1/60th second interval and then displays both at the same time in its native progressive format. Overall, you get an updated screen every 1/30th second. Is this correct?
b) 1080p then for every 1/60th of a second the TV receives a a full screen picture (1080 lines) and progressively displays it every 1/60th second.
Now, the way I understand it is that the video on the HD-DVD or Blu-Ray or even normal TV transmission is only ~24fps so it makes no difference whether it updates the entire screen every 1/60th of a second or every 1/30th of a second as it is more than enough time to display the entire image.
For a games console you'd really want progressive output to a progressive TV as games often run up to 60fps so you'd need the screen to update fully every 1/60th of a second to get every frame shown.
Is this all correct?
Hell if an A2 that could only due 720P for 199.00. I am still happy.
EDIT: btw is there a huge difference between the A2 and the A3?

You have things mixed up a little. First off, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-definition_television
1080i = 1080x1920x60hz (interlaced)
1080p = 1080x1920x30hz (progressive)
So, for 1080p, the image will be drawn line by line from 1 to 1080, 30 times a second. For simplicity we will say you get 1080 lines drawn once every 30th of a second.
For 1080i, the image will be drawn first by filling in all the odd numbered lines from 1 to 1079, then going back and filling in all the even lines 2 to 1080. As well for simplicity we will say you get 540 lines drawn once every 60th of a second.
If you do your math, you will notice that both methods have the exact same bandwidth requirements, and that if you had a memory buffer that could hold a single frame of data, it would be simply to convert from one into the other. In the case of going from interlaced to progressive, hold on to the first set of 540lines and then drawn them progressively when you get the second set, but it would half your refresh rate. In the case of progressive, if you hold onto the second set of 540 lines and draw then after, which would increase your refresh rate.

That isn't as common as inverse telecine though. But yeah thats the idea.
Movies commonly use 1080p/24, games commonly use 1080p/30 or 1080p/60.
PC usage: (pardon the cheesy creative webcam)

Will isn't that the truth. They don't make ****, so why would they even give a **** to know more about what you want? Wal-Mart employees don't care the least about you're shopping experience.
