Hello, someone wants to buy a pc off me. They need CS-S to play.

Will it run on this pc?

Pentium 4 2.66Ghz 478pin
2Gb DDR PC2700 333Mhz
Gigabyte motherboard.
128Mb nVidia 5900XT
120Gb IDE Seagate

Crappy I know :D (nana2) but will it play CS-S and if so at what optimum speed, resolution, quality etc

cheers

No need to wonder, the answer is a few keystrokes away!

As to how well it will play, not sure there. I did have a radeon 9600XT and IIRC it was "playable" at 1024x768, no AA, medium details

Eh...most of the specs are fine, video card would be all I'd be worried about. Nothing over 1280x1024 with that guy.

cheers thanks both of you. I dont want to misrepresent the fellow.

So you reckon 1024x768 on Medium/low details should get him around 30fps?

cheers

Yes, he should be fine. At least that.

I forget how it compares- but my 5950U flew through CS:S. Granted, you're not gonna' find a new 5950U, and I'd be hesitant to buy a used one now.

Why not go with something a bit newer like a 7300GT or something?

sounds like a fine system accept he would need to buy a new video card.. any budget series like a 6800 or 7800 should run great.

LOL

The fellow agreed to buy it for $400 dollars (300 euros) with 1gb and a 60gb hard drive instead of above specs.

just for base unit. Seems a little expensive so may give him the other gig fre :)

The only problem with selling people computers is they expect you to provide help when anything goes wrong. Which is a complete pain in the ass! Especially if its friends or family :]

he isnt getting any help :p

I am delivering to his house so he dosent know where i live :D

But I know what you mean. I brought a fella a HDD and charged him what it cost me because he is a neighbour. The prick wanted me round to install his hard drive in complex way involving partitions and to help network his pc. (unpaid ) I told him where to stuff it and it wasnt a 2.5" drive ;)

At 1024x768 I could play it at med/high (DX8) on my old GF3 ti200. This was with a P4 2.4 (533MHz bus) and 512MB DDR333.
