I must be an idiot as well,as to I agree with Xion X2 and think Jericho has graphics that are at least 95% of what Crysis can do.I have been playing the beta for Crysis for two weeks now.Performance in Jericho is excelent
on my system, with my older GTS 640 or my new stock eVGA ULTRA.
The draw distance. Those jericho shots are indoors, or in very view limited outdoor areas. As draw distance increases, the amount of stuff to be drawn increases at a tremendous rate.

MSPaint (well, kolourpaint actually, but same thing) is great fun sometimes for using simple visuals to express stuff. Observe:

And not speaking of the advanced lightning in crysis. ;)

Is this really going to come down to,

"I'm going to post a bad looking shot with bad framerate of a game I think looks bad"

I think we can establish that anybody can go out and take a bad shot of any game and say it looks awful with some bad framerates.

I happen to think that crysis shot in the sub looks better than any of those blurry jericho shots.

You're not the only one who's unimpressed, but you are the only one that has told fans of the game who are impressed that they're merely "falling for the hype" like the "rest of the masses." That would fairly register as elitist and condescending.

You have a point, so I apologize in part for that comment.

I do believe there's a certain truth to it, however. Once a game like this gains momentum, people keep wanting to hype it more and more in order for it to fulfill their expectations. I'm just trying to keep it real.

Is it just me, or are people with low-end rigs making assumptions about an unoptimized beta, and trying to compare it to an unreleased demo?

well crysis looks great, but for a game that has been in development for so long, and promised to be most optimized game on the planet. and the performance doesn't deliver. I havent tried the demo yet so I cant comment, but beta just simply sucked at performance. may be we will see better drivers from nvidia tommorrow. may be they shouldn't have bragged about it being so optimized that it will run at very high settings on a highend rig. o well who cares, I am not expecting the best gameplay out of crysis anyways, I will buy it so I could see the prettiest game ever, lol. ut3, gears of war, cod4 will probably have a better gameplay than crysis.

That's fine. My comments were mostly uncalled for, anyway, and my ire is directed mainly at EA. :P

Probably my own stupid fault for ordering from them in the first place, no doubt.

And you who hopes in a map of several square kilometres, that all the textures are of high resolution?
Does your go to look at the whole map up to seeing a texture blurry?
In games like Jericho - the demo would enter almost in this Crysis's submarine - only has to approach the wall mas nearby to see a texture of low resolution

Wow, a thread filled with garbage and trash talk. I'll contribute too then.

I just had my breakfast. One egg, one banana and one cup of coffee. Now I'm gonna take a dump.

The shots I posted of "Jericho" where with 4x edge smoothing, 16x AF from the CP, motion blur on, and all other options high. Also some of those shots are outdoors in depth of field situations with action.

You can see here how filtering can impact it's performance:

http://www.legionhardware.com/document.php?id=688&p=3

And the above is XP, not even Vista.

I'll post some shallow depth of field indoor shots in the SS thread.

Well, i'm praying that the editor is taking away quite a bit of performance. It's actually playable in certain areas on Very High. But, it looks like most of us will be playing it at lower res. Anyways, enough pics from me. Everyone will witness the awful performance very soon.

Now those last DX10 shots posted by Mums do look great. That's what I'm talking about.

But again--no AA and 7fps!? We can all forget about playing this game looking like that, it seems. Give me a game like Jericho that runs at 50-60fps any day over a game looking like those last shots and running at a slideshow. Just can't do it.

The DoF is on 2 (Very High) and it looks just like dx10 videos we've seen.

Dare I say it,but graphics are NOT everything !! Mood and ambience can make or break a game, something Jericho has,TO ME thus far bested Crysis in.I will reserve final judgement of course for retail release code, but still 8.1FPS !???!

Another thing,is SS do not do any game justice. From what I have seen and played so far,Jericho is the better game.IMHO.

Jericho or Crysis for that matter
in.

Yeah don't worry about FPS based off those... running the game normally + new Nvidia driver tomorrow may result in decent fps.

Will be interesting to see if 64-bit exe has any differences over 32-bit.

And I'm not talking about like HL2 64-bit where FPS was lower :P

yeah ive been playing it in the editor for a few hours tonight.. it's pretty damn cool.

everything is being rendered at once, which is the amazing part.

anyway, it gave me a little time to get familiar with it, and i really like the
nano suit and how it can change the way you play, quite immersive.

the graphics are sweet, as we all know. i ran it in the editor on high settings and it played at a fairly consistant 30 frames a second. quite nicely, considering you can't really change any settings in the editor. oh yeah, and its the editor. and there will probably be a new driver from nvidia soon.

but, fun as that is i want to play the singer player demo quite badly.

im going to sleep. it better be here in the morning. lol

maybe people are just pissed cause we saw those shots what...like a year and a half ago? They really did look more impressive back then...too much time has passed to let other games catch up a bit.
