Anyone get the 64bit version running? I can run the 32bit exe but when I run the 64bit it just hangs.

xion shaders on medium make it look so much worse, it looks better just playing with everything on high so u can keep shaders on high. thats why your distance mountains look like crap, cuz of shaders on medium

DX10 working fine here, and very playable.



Basically my performance is 5 to 10 FPS lower at 19x12 with very similiar settings to yours Xion. :)


Not as pissed as I was before,as the graphics are insanely good at meduim ~ high,and a few things on very high !!! I really like the mood in the game,etc.Still may shelve it till the spring,or whenever Nvidia gets
around to launching the real G92,and not this mid range stuff that I cant be bothered with at all !!

Quite impressed so far,but,still hope for a few bumps in performance with newer drivers in the coming months,and a 'patch' as they did with Farcry
years ago.

Vista X86 performance is so so to great,and X64 wont run at all for me.

I'll check and make sure I had AF on; that might be the problem.

And yeah, it looks better than anything else out there. Totally different from the beta version that I played before (which I knew it could be. I never said that it couldn't look as good as Jericho, CoD4 eventually--just that the beta didn't.)

You should put shaders on High and lower the other settings a bit. Medium shaders is just awful.

Alot of it should be able to function with DX9, but other effects like beams and soft particles will not.

Yeah whatever, dude. The game is the most incredible looking thing you've ever seen while you're playing it. The motion-blur helps reduce the jaggies that show in screenshots but are minimal when the scene is in motion.
I must agree with him, it doesn't look so good, very far cry'ish. I'd crank up the shaders and overall it doesn't look like a very good settings combo. I bears greater resemblance to the DX9 IMO:

Yea when i first saw his shots it kinda looked a bit like Farcry when it first got its HDR patch

The stuff on the distance is like...kids finger painting..or something lol...i think there is meant to be some kinda FOG effect to make hide that or something like that..but yea defiantly looks really bad the distance.
It's the shaders. But you can't turn them up because current hardware takes such a performance hit.

Drivers might be able to optimize. Can only hope. But you get a 12-20fps performance hit by going from medium to very high shaders. That's why you see so many guys posting 10-12fps screens in DX10. Enabling AA causes the shaders to go to high/very high.

Meh. It's hardly noticeable when you're playing it because everything else around you is so immersive. Some of you just need to play it instead of picking out every little thing in screenshots that doesn't look perfect (and that includes me.) The game is truly by far head and shoulders above anything else out there. It's really something when you see it in motion, and looks a hell of a lot better in DX10 than the POS beta that was out before.

I just played thru it all 2 times. It is by far the best looking game. Alot of fun. Kept me wanting to play more.

It played pretty well on ATI too.

I got an AVG of 28-35 FPS with EVERYTHING on very high. 12x7 dx10. The jaggys really arnt bad when the game is in motion.

This demo put the game way back up there on the want list for me again.

Well,

It runs better than what i was expecting.

Around 20-30fps 1280x1024 4xAA Max Quality DX9 XP 32bit.

Reminds me FarCry on my old GF4 Ti.

that is very true, the game looks so beautiful in motion that this is probably the only game that wont use AA in, there is no point in the performance hit it takes, at 1280x720 my average was around 45-50 with everything on high, I honestly cant see the difference between very high and high, I am sure there is but it already looks so good on high that there is no need of killing performance even further.

at 1680x1050 I get around 40 average, and it plays so well and really smooth, doesnt chop or anything. and never see it dip below 30. great game but very demanding. hopefully a driver release will make a huge difference by the time final game comes out but I highly doubt it.

with AA on in any situation its an easy 35-40% performance hit.

Everythings perfect except the clouds are lame and I got stuck in a rock

Oh and the bananas have a low poly count

and you dont leave tracks in the sand

Needs more gore

Apart from that it looks the dogs and runs great.

Cant wait to see how it will run on my HD 2400 XT

so far im pretty amazed, like most in this thread.

all of you that are playing without aa must be using vista, because
i'm running it in xp with 4xaa and its smooth. i'm gonna try that
cfg, and see if it makes a difference.

Fraps numbers have a black background. Black background = DX10

If you have a G15 and Fraps running you can hit the far right button for the LCD it'll show D3D9 for DX9 and D3D10 for DX10. Otherwise from what I have read there are a few other ways to find out also.

If you enjoy a slideshow, be my guest. I don't. And there's a 10-15fps difference between the two when playing in DX10. It's not worth it to me for some mountains in the distance that you're looking at maybe 2% of the time while playing the game.
