I just tried the demo here as well, so far only DX9 and XP and I have to say I'm impressed, not only is the game running at 1080p with all settings on high it was noticibly faster than the Beta3 and I was able to use the moded cfg (the one that I posted in the beta thread) and added a few "bonus DX10" effects there was a performance hit but it was still in the region of the Beta3, always playable and fun! I also upped the contrast a notch, and reduced brightness/gamma a little and especially the "shadow" areas looked actually photorealistic when you had to walk towards the NK checkpoint.
The only thing that disappointed me were some of the low-res textures on some of the rocks but I had a blast playing it, mowing down the trees like in Predator, priceless! FPS gamplay of the year! One time I even killed myself when a tree dropped on me. :rofl
Seriously I don't think the performance in XP/DX9 + modded cfg is that bad, not only the map is a lot bigger, it has so many interactive objects, day/night cycle, AI, scripts, so much more stuff than the Shore Beta3 map and 1080p isn't a low resolution either.
I also don't think I'm even going to try it in Vista/real DX10 to spoil this great game. Yes it's a shame that DX10 doesn't run faster but for me its a next-gen (9800GTX) or high-end SLI setting but DX9+modded cfg can come very close to it.
By the way, I was still using 163.76 and I'm going to install 169.01 now.
That worked so well. Looks much more realistic and light and shadows looks more intense.
I went down the ress from 1280 to 1024, and lowed the shadows, and the game was actually playable then, howering arround the mid 30s~ so its not bad, impossible for online but the single player can be played.
The detail on the characters is really awesome.
I think this game might actually have a decent story to go with and alot of people will be surprised at how the game looks and at the same time deliver a good solid single player..
Defiantly gonna play this when it comes out.
Nice cliff hanger btw lol...
And yea..those low ress textures on the rocks is very noticable when ure sneaking around..what gives :/...apart from that i am really looking forward to the game.

Here are my benchies. Everything High. 1680x1050 res, no AA. Windows Xp.
E6400 @ 3.2ghz, 8800 gts 640 @ 620/900, 2 Gigs ram
CPU:
Play Time: 58.06s, Average FPS: 25.83
Min FPS: 1.31 at frame 1069, Max FPS: 36.34 at frame 175
GPU:
Play Time: 76.41s, Average FPS: 26.18
Min FPS: 18.56 at frame 156, Max FPS: 30.00 at frame 995
Very high + AA 4X at 720p . The diference into very high and high is evident. - suns shafts , better HDR and posprocesing, and procedural shaders in the far surfaces - montains . but in high and medium look nice .

Well I can tell that this game will kick ass when I get an uber card. Played up to a few checkpoints along the beach after turning off the transponder thingy... very high detail at 1900x1200 is barely playable, and it gets ugly when I'm in hand to hand combat with 4 dudes... that said it is pretty fun to turn on maximum strength and punch them to death. LOL. I kept thinking I was dead, but the suit is very resilient.
I'll try high settings to see how my frames look... sounds like medium is the ticket.
Is this thing using 4 cores?

Alright, demo is definitely playable for me on high settings at 1440x900 resolution. Sure it gets choppy in some firefights but overall its a good show. The 9 series in November I'm guessing will be the savior of Crysis's performance issues. BUT I'm sure we can all agree on one thing: the explosions are incredibly visual. The gore? Definitely, disappointingly, one of the worst gore systems I've seen of new games.

The gore is weak but that had to be expected. The devs are in Germany and our stupid government is very close of banning the production of FPS games. :( A high profiled game like Crysis was risking even a ban before release if it had too much gore. :(

Downloading @ 800kb/s from WorthPlaying. About 45 mins to go.
For anyone running on High settings on XP, add this to your game.cfg:
Alot of it should be able to function with DX9, but other effects like beams and soft particles will not.
Where is the game.cfg file? I cauldnt fine it i did a search but no luck

Has anyone with two 8800GTX's responded yet? I'm curious to know if getting a 2nd one is worth it at this point?

it's a good bump in dx9 - IMO nothing can play it in dx10 on very high - too choppy for me

Nzone download is the same size as regular one, so I'm guessing its exactly the same file with a different filename?

I am running it @ 1024x768 with 2xaa and it still gets mega choppy at times (ie. boat @ end of demo). I could turn it down to medium... but... i want high! lol.

For anyone wondering what is changed with that game.cfg posted a few pages back.
In case you are wondering how I loaded it. I put the game.cfg into the config folder, and made a bat file with following: crysis.exe +exec game
Mostly all it did was add more grass and rocks.

it runs in the low 20's at 1280x1024. This is with new driver (not any diff) and NO AA. Even if the lagginess of the mouse was fixed it's just way too jerky.
Even if I wasn't spoiled by super smooth perf in other games I just wouldn't play thru it like that.
In DX9 though it is pretty smooth and runs 50-60 most of the demo. It looks nearly as good minus a few visual bells n whistles
