well in the demo, half the cores are being used full time, and not even %100.. I doubt youll see any performance increase beyond q6600.

just like 8800gtx with overclocked q6600 and ddr2Very true. I finished reading the new QX9650 benchmarks on this game and there is no change over even a rig such an AMD-6000. Still, I'm happy to see the rendering benchmarks are killer for this CPU. Guess its too much to ask that it run Crysis maxed out.

Still, I recall a video of a Crysis developer running the game at high frame rates and it looked smooth. I bet that was DX9 though.

Anyone have problems with freezing in Vista when using very high shaders?

i bet most of the trailers were DX9

Well I know why they named it Crysis. It makes your system cry!

Actually not too bad on a GTS320. I have to have AA on so I'm fighting the settings trying to figure what to sacrifice ion order to keep at least 4xAA on. Being that is seems the game is mostly a FPC (first person creeper) as long as I can keep high 20's to low 30's it will be good enough.

I'll probably just wait for the full release and better drivers though for the real tweaking.

The new Nvidia Forceware 169.02 is released, can someone please try these and see if the performance is increased in the demo :o

Cheers

VISTA sux !
10fps less ....

VISTA
8800GTS 320,
VERY HIGH (shadow=medium), NO AA, 1280x1024 = 10fps and slideshow !
HIGH (shadow=medium), NO AA, 1280x1024 = 20fps but w/slowdowns .. not too playable

XP
8800GTS 320, HIGH (shadow=medium), NO AA, 1280x1024 = 30fps, and few slowdowns but very playable!

My config:
E6300 @ 3Ghz
2GB DDR2-800
8800GTS 320 500/1600

I'll let someone else do it since I think the only difference really is the support of the new 8800 GT card :)

As I said before....I am running vista, and I'm able to play the game with no problems. If you're having problems, the first place to start is troubleshooting your hardware.

OK.. without reading all of a 40+ page thread.

I have a GTX. I take it 1920x1080 is going to be unbearably slow with this game? Even w/no AA?

You ask too much from your hardware :headexplode:

that video resolution is equivalent to play Crysis in 1280x720 with AAx2, so IMHO too much for crysis at the moment (maybe in SLI it work smoothly)

But,
if I have hardware problems the problem will happen with XP ether.
I don't believe in hardware problem, but in driver problem or dev problem.

Another thing is :
Crysis isn't using my both CPU cores ... this is "bottlenecking" my GPU for sure !

19x10, winXP DX9 all High with 4xAA is playable to me but barely...13-19fps range. As many have already stated, the low frame rate is really not very noticable in this game compared to others for some odd reason.

oh this is a good news ! :captnkill:
But not VERY HIGH SHADERS :(

I am waiting new hardware came out to assemble my new rig, because i want play this game with everything on VERY HIGH AND IN A SMOOTHLY WAY ! :P

Though Crysis is amazing even with some in VERY HIGH and some in HIGH settings.

Not if his performance in XP is that much better than Vista. How would hardware cause that when the hardware isn't changing??

I run 1280x1024 no AA (since I dont feel it really needs it)

My results echo his. In DX10 with everything on high my system gets teens to low 20's. In XP everything the same but shaders on high. I get 45 - 50s.

Even if I drop to High Shaders in Vista I only get 20-30s. The first place one should start troubleshooting when using Vista... is XP ;)

agreed.... also you can boost the performance in vista by at least 30% simply by turning off stupid things like motion blur and depth of field... personally i cant stand effects like that

Plays fine for me without AA and some cfg tweaks (DX9/XP). Don't expect 60fps though.

This demo kicks ASS!

Hard mode changes a bunch of things, so definitely try out hard mode.

Sure it brings my system to its knees, but I like that! Now I'll have a reason to drool over a new high end nVidia card! I tried 1920x1200 with everything maxed out and the game was a slideshow at like 14fps... LOL!!

The AI in this game is amazing. Sure there are still issues but it's far better than any FPS I've played. The bad guys WILL hunt you down once they know where you are at!

Loving every bit of the demo. And this was after I played the MP beta and thought the game was going to suck... LOL...

For anyone having Vista, try downloading all hotfixes, and the new November DX distri. That should give some more performance.

Very true, I played it on Delta since the first time I started the demo but the great thing about the AI is that as long as you hide while they are hunting you down, and don't see you cloak, you can actually see the AI still going to the spot where they saw you. You can also hide within/behind foliage successfully unlike in Far Cry where the AI could see you through foliage. "Non-cheating/Realistic" AI FTW! :D

Okay it finally downloaded :D

Played @ 1920x1200 @ 2x AA, High on everything with 16XAF. It was very playable. Dont have a clue what the FPS's were and honestly dont care :D . I found the graphics a bit underwhelming though :(.

meh. Will try sometime in Vista, maybe it will look better
