Can you take screenshots in-game without fraps? I would like to grab some PNGs.

Also you can use bayimg.com for higher quality uploads then imageshack.

One minor gripe/wish. I would really like to be able to choke the soldiers to death :D

Or snap their necks like a twig :D

Am I normal?

I'd like to be able to hold them under water :bleh:

Some sort of blur effect with 'no FSAA' set?? BTW, winXP DX9 all High 19x10 orig res.

Notice the trees especially; they are sharp with FSAA and blurry w/o FSAA applied. Gif images are zoomed in 2x.

How do you mean? If you enable AA in the game menu you get sharp edges but without AA they are blurred?

Anyway thanks for the AA and AF clearance...

Edit: It must be the r_UseEdgeAA=1 command in the sys_spec_postprocess.cfg file dont you think? Maybe u can disable it if you find this blurred edges annoying. I would't want to enable FSAA in the crysis demo, i prefer Very high settings infront of AA. To be honest. I am planning on playing with all settings on Very high exept shadows witch i'll have on High and to this i run on 1024x768 resolution and also Force Vsync and AF OFF. Wonder what framerates am gonna get on my athlon x2 4600+, 2gb ram and 8800gtx @ 630/2040 :P

Hopefully there is a mod that can turn the gore up like it was in Far Cry.

What's funny about the 64bit vs 32bit, the demo for me runs like CRAP on 64bit mode. But in 32bit I get probably 30% to 50% more fps.

Well thats funny, I get better performance in 64bit DX10 than what I get in 32bit DX10.

Alas, forcing Vsync seems to kills fps, but from these benches, 32Bit is faster, but we'll see how it works when forcing Vsync isn't necessary.

This is something for the shadow fans, add this to your autoexec.cfg

e_shadows_max_texture_size=2048

Doubles shadow resolution from VERY HIGH (1024x1024), performance hit exists but it's not allllll that bad, feels like 2 - 5 frames. If you are really brave, try to use "4096" but beware, it freezes my computer within 3 - 4 seconds, and you will most likely need to do a reboot. I'm not even sure we will be able to use 4k shadows with next-gen hardware, at least all settings on "veryhigh" don't freeze the PC to death, unlike this single setting does when set to 4096. :rofl

is the performance really better on the beta drivers for crysis then on the official drivers that you can find at the nvidia site?
maybe for some poeple the beta drivers runs crysis slower?

169.01 are better but most likely not more than 3-5 frames or so. Someone did a comparision in this thread:

In the beta multi, the effect were a few shadows more dark and more sharpers . But a bit unreal especially with 4096. It does not kill the performance if it does not occupy all the graphical memory

Hey guys. Seems like I was completely wrong about the lighting in DX9. You can get the same exact lighting you see in Very High Shaders in DX10 with DX9 in XP. I don't know why I never noticed it until now. Even the depth of field is more accurate just like in DX10 Very High. Honestly, now I can't think of anything that DX10 can do that DX9 can't in this game.

Surprisingly some people are reporting that they DO gain FPS with the new 169.02 drivers. I didn't bother to try then since the divers releae notes only stated that they were adding support for the 8800GT card, but some people are reporting otherwise:

http://www.crysis-online.com/forum/index.php?topic=12190.0

I a bit speptic about this and notice the first poster doesn't prove anything, he just posts some screenshots without FPS counter or anything. Anyway if you see that guys 3Dmark results on the 2nd page (169.01, then 169.01+DX update then 169.02+DXupdate) he didn't gain anything from the 169.02 really, but the DirectX update helped out. So I think we can safely assume that the new drivers doesn't to anything for performance, but the new DirectX November Update does. Here's the direct link for the update:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/c/6/a/c6af7ea3-f85c-4fef-a475-5810f82def1f/directx_nov2007_redist.exe

I have no intensions of trying the 169.02 until I see some proof that it's better for Crysis :)

You can't select them from the graphics menu, you have to modifiy the configuration file in or create a new autoexe file with the new graphics values. The game will load the new graphics settings thus turning on or off any graphics options or features you want.

This is how DX9 users can turn on all the effects that are typically only enabled when using DX10/vista.

Correct, I've tried 4096 at 1080p and it froze to death but at 720p it's fine. I remember games in the past just tried to use system ram once video ram is full but I guess it works different in Crysis. 2048 is the way to go, works at 1080p, little performance hit, and better shadows. :)
