Hi !

I'm running Mandrake 9.1 RC2 but I'm not yet a very experienced linux user. I just downloaded the new Nvidia installer and can't get it to run.
The following happens:

1st screen:
"No precompiled kernel interface was found to match your kernel; would you like the installer to attempt to download a kernel interface for your kernel?"

I chose "yes"

2nd screen:
No matching precompiled kernel interface was found on the NVIDIA ftp:site; this means that the installer will need to compile a kernel interface for you kernel:

Ok, i thought....
But:

3rd screen:
Unable to find the kernel header files for the currently running kernel. Please make sure you have installed the kernel header files for your kernel.

So how do I get them installed for Mandrake??

good luck on that one!
Thx guys

Is 9.1 RC2 different from 9.1 final? If so, consider upgrading to 9.1 final, as there are (I believe) precompiled kernel interfaces for 9.1 final's kernel.

If you must keep going with 9.1 RC2, then find out which kernel you're running (uname -r), and then find kernel-source-<that version>.rpm on your Mandrake CDs. It was on CD 3 with Mandrake 9, so it might be the same with 9.1. Install it, and run the nVidia installer again.

sounds good, to be honest i hadn't downloaded the third CD to be honest - as it was optional.
i'll give it a go.
