My MX1000 decided to die I can either replace it or grab the G7 instead.. ideas?

Has anyone made the switch from a 1000 to a G7 for gaming?

i never had the MX1000 but i did have a MX700, 2x MX revolutions and a G7 and i can say that the G7 is much better

My first MX1000 died and I tried a G7, but I missed all the buttons, so I went back to an MX1000. If you can live without the extra buttons the G7 would be a better gaming mouse.

Tried both for gaming, I prefer the G7 because it's lighter.

Thats a biggie for me! How much lighter arewe talking? I always wished my MX1000 was lighter!

I don't know the different weights in numbers but it makes a huge difference for gaming. The batteries of the G7 are much lighter so the center of gravity is also different, the G7 is simply more balanced.

+1

I made the MX1000-G7 and I only missed the forward button.

Make sure you get the black carbon fiber faux G7 and not the green and silver one. It has better texture on the sides.

The G7 may be missing buttons but I think it's a longer lasting mouse than the MX1000 as well...

My MX1000 can last for ages. Never had an issues with premature battery run down.

But the G7 has two which you can swap in and out. A little messy but guaranteed satisfaction.

If you like heavier mice go for the MX1000 , otherwise the G7 is much lighter & with high precision.

I wasn't talking about battery life but rather just the lifespan of the mouse. I went through 2 MX1000s and they both broke just over a year I believe. My G7 has lasted longer than both of them.

umm... you could have gotten a G5, they come with the extra button now..

I have a G7, but I wouldn't recommend it due to its horrible battery life :)

Logitech doesn't even list the G7 anymore under their products page...

isn't the G5 wired :( urgh who needs that!

Yes it is wired, but it's a pretty nice mouse. The only downside is that the cord is wrapped in material and since mine drags back and forth across the back of my keyboard tray it has totally gotten all frayed, it looks nasty...

What do you guys think of the new G9? It looks awesome but I can't justify $99 for a mouse so I'm sticking with my G5 for now...

I'd stick with the G5, I don't know what the hell Logitech was thinking with the G9.

Hmmm, the reviews for the G9 seem REALLY high though...

I'll probably put it on my Christmas list.
