How much of a performance difference is there between these two hard drives? Is the Raptor X worth the extra over the Caviar SE16?

raptors are so over rated. Grab a 750GB Seagate instead there just as fast in a single user environment

the new 1tb seagate destroys raptors in performance.

I want to check out the 1TB Hatachi drives, or one of their 10k or 15k RPM Ultrastar SAS drives :D

wonder what would be the best controller to use for SAS, anybody? the onboard SATA controller wouldn't be able to handle it right?

SAS is serial SCSI, no it won't work with sata controller.

here you go, you can buy a SAS controller

their performance for their size and price is pretty damn impressive compared to the raptors :)
