View Full Version : DPMS function, or lack thereof

I was just wondering if anyone else noticed that not only was the resolution switching (RnR) b0rked with the new drivers + X 4.3, but DPMS was as well? My monitor no longer turns off, it simply goes to a blank screen. It's rather annoying having to do it manually, being as I am lazy and all. Thanks in advance for any insights!
(I checked my logs, didn't seem to be anything pertinent, and I'm not sure if it's anything that X would log anyway, a failure to start DPMS or something?)
Using Mandrake 9.1, stock system drivers and services, Gnome 2.2 desktop, (which says DPMS is enabled under the Screensaver control), K7T266Pro2 mobo, GF4 Ti4200.
Forgot to say... this used to work with the old drivers.

Current rotation - normal
Current reflection - none
Rotations possible - normal
Reflections possible - none How is that not working again? ;)
Driver 1.0-4349 here. KT333 mainboard (though that should have no influence whatsoever on RandR...), Athlon XP1800 (same here -- should have no influence), and xrandr -s works just fine (sets the resolution). GF4 Ti4200, if that matters (but again, I doubt it...). Are you using any non-default options in XF86Config?
As for DPMS, well... that's broken, yeah. So are APM and ACPI (well... anything in APM other than console blanking, pretty much).

That works fine. Ctrl+Alt+plus or Ctrl+Alt+minus aren't working though. The drivers somehow break res switching, and I noticed in another thread that I believe Andy said that it has to do with the way that RandR was changed in X 4.2.99+
Still, I was wondering when that APM, etc. was going to be fixed, or if anyone knew of a workaround or reason. Like I said, it worked with the older drivers (41xx) and the new 43xx ones just don't cut it.
Any other ideas?
Ctrl-Alt-+/- work just fine for me as well.
Do you have alternate resolutions listed for your chosen color depth in your XF86Config file? You need them.
RandR has nothing to do with Ctrl-Alt-+/-, either, that I know of; you have to use the xrandr utility (or a program that speaks the protocol) to use that extension...

Yes, I do. Like I said, it works fine with other config files, and the file worked fine with the 41xx drivers. My XF86Config-4 is attached...
