I love DailyTech:D

http://www.dailytech.com/But+Wait+Theres+More+NVIDIA+G92+for+2007/article9474.htm

NVIDIA's GeForce 8800 GT might be remembered as one of the most successful NVIDIA graphics cards of our time, at least according to the flurry of reviews this week. Virtually every top tier e-tailer managed to sell out of the card in less than two days.

Yet NVIDIA isn't done yet. A G92-derivative will appear later this year with even more shader units. According to company guidance, the new G92 will launch in early December and feature 128 shader units as opposed to the 112 featured on GeForce 8800 GT.

This would be mean the additional 16 shader units exist on all GeForce 8800 GT cards, but are disabled for yield or marketing purposes. In addition to the extra shaders, the new G92 will also feature higher core frequencies and support for up to 1GB GDDR3.

Can someone say step-up?:D (nana2) Thanks for the link nekrosoft13.

So is the G92 suppose to be a large step up from a 8800GTXUltra??

I'm pretty sure it's just the GTS with the added shader units. There is no new high end on the last roadmaps I saw till Q1 2008.

It would just make a confusing range of cards even more confusing. I still don't get why the GT's are classed as 8800's when it's a totally new GPU. Urgh... what a mess :o :p

I wonder if the upcoming dual PCB card will be called an 8800 too?! '8800GTX GX2 1024 Ultra' maybe. Saying that, it still makes more sence than ATI's naming system.

It's not hard to figure out.

Old gts's will have the odd 320/640/768 MB

New gts's will have the typical 512/1024 MB

....real hard to figure out

Can a graphic card with 1GB of GDDR3 create some sort of problems when used in a 32bit OS? Something about max supported memory? (Graphic card and RAM)?

I guess there will be a GX2 in Q1 08 to replace the GTX/Ultra. Since the GT is a single slot card it might be possible to develop a dual GPU product without underclocking because temps shouldn't that problematic.

GX2 is not ideal but it's better than nothing and there's no need for nV chipsets.

why not a duel-core gfx

Actually this is bad news if true .. this means we have to wait even more for a next-gen card .. bye bye Crysis DX10 :thumbdwn:

Is it? I thought it was a die shrink

Bleh. I'm never buying another GX2.

The 7950GX2 was a piece of crap.

Because it was underclocked. So without proper SLI support the 7950 was slower than a 7900. This might change with the new generation if they don't have to underclock the cards again. So with SLI support the card will be pretty fast and without SLI it's like single GT which isn't that bad ;)

I dont see that its all that great news to be honest. A cooler running GTX is nice but man come on! I mean yay! Nvidia releases last years high end gpu.

I hope we get a completely new high end card real soon.

man i hope something comes out by the end of november because the step-up on my Ultra ends on the 31st. I really don't want it to go to waste, nor do i want to downgrade.

Yea, this would be the card that has me on the fence. I could use a little more performance in some of the latest titles, but I'm thinking I just need to hold out for a month instead of getting another GTX now. If these weight in with 128sp's and a core clock of around 700mhz, then it would be a decent upgrade from a GTX, especially if the price is right. I think I'm just going to rock one 8800GTX tiki edition for now. :tiki:

No this means more time to wait until you see the 9800GTX.

I was thinking of upgrading to a GTX but this has put me off, a new 1GB G92 with better performance than an Ultra would do very nicely (nana2)

Yes, that would be would great! NVIDIA should try and release such a card in Q4 so they can profit has a company. It would make good since to release a 9800 GTX because we need it now more then ever with games like Crysis and UT3!!!!
