As soon as I saw how fast the 8800GT's were is sold my GTX and bought 2 8800GT's. Next friday i'll have em.

I hope they'll kick ass @ FEAR and Bioshock @ 1920x1200.

Just curious but why would you swap an 8800GTX for a single 8800GT unless you want a single slot card.

furthermore the performance of a single 8800GT isnt better than a single 8800GX am I missing something here? I understand that there are some other compelling reason say less power draw or fan noise maybe but performanc isnt better.

a GT is close to a GTX in performance.

Because the resell value of the GTX will only drop, while the resell of the GT will remain somewhat stable until the next thing comes along... and then you can step up if you have the right brand.

Only in DX9 apps, not DX10, especially at higher resolutions.

lol. I sold both of my ultra's a week before 800gt launch, I got a gt for 260 and have overclocked on water to 792core and plays anything I through at it at 1920x1200. yes it is slower when you use AA than the ultra, but it all depends on a game, but it is giving me playable framerates, now I am just waiting for the next highend, and until than it will do.

The day the 8800gt cards were announced, I was shipping my 8800gtx to the guy that bought it. :D

will there be anything worthy to step my ultra up to by the end of november? because i want to use the step up, but don't want to get a GT because it's somewhat of a downgrade.

Argh...I've been out of the loop for a while.

I thought the 9800 GTX was going to be released in november but I can't find any information about it.

Would you trade an 8800gtx if you owned it for an 8800gt?

For the OP why the heck would one trade a faster card for a slower one :wtf:
i didnt buy my card for its resell value & SLI isnt worth the trouble IMO :bleh:

Really, why is everyone saying Sli isn't worth the trouble?

What trouble? Either the game has Sli support, or it doesn't. Not like you really have to 'worry' about it, but yes, there are cases where a game doesn't support Sli but you can manipulate a profile so that it does, but is that a bad thing?

Dunno, I was Sli'd with my last rig and went Sli with this new platform too.

Worth it to me.

For me i had some troubles setting up profiles (time & effort) , no SLI support , SLI support but with issues , slowdows due to desyncs & mouse lag. the mouse lag was the biggest turn off for me & i've done multiple threads about it & you can search for 'em.
if you can deal with all these troubles or you dont experiance them then i believe you'll enjoy your SLI. for me though a solid single GPU card > 2 GPU's in SLI with troubles.

I am keeping my GTX untill it's actual replacement comes out, the 9800 GTX or whatever.

Which means I probably will not play Crysis untill I get a 9800 GTX :)

I am happy with Bioshock, and UT3 when it does come out.

But for me, from my 7950GX2 the $279 price seems very good to me! :captnkill:

for me sli isn't a trouble, its just my choice, I had 2 ultra's and I dont think I will go sli againk, why if you ask? because this is how it goes, a highend card comes out and with a single card you can play any game just like when gtx first came out, and than ultra and I could play any game at my monitor's resolution with single card at 1920x1200 and everything maxed out with a single card. and sli for me was just for bragging rights, now crysis comes out and it even brings the highest end rigs to its knewws with all the setting up very high even with sli, so now nvidia will release a next single chip highend in a few months which will probably be faster than two ultra's in sli, just like 8800 was compared to two 7900gtx's, for me its just my choice to me single highend should last you a year or two before you get a game that you would truly need sli for and even than that game will scream for a next gen card, just like crysis.
