Hi everyone

My BFG 6800 Ultra OC GPU (http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=812&redirect=yes) has recently died. I sent it back to BFG and they have sent me a 7600GS OC (http://www.bfgtech.com/bfgr76512gsoc.aspx).

I think my old card was faster so I'm not sure that this is a good replacement.

Can you let me know whether it is or not?

Thanks

Sorry not a good swap.

A 7600GT would have been a fairer swap.

Well the replacement is not even close to being the equivalent of your old card according to this table of features here (http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/132). I think I would be telling them you want something in the 7800 line, it is a little bit above what you had but no sense going to lower specs ...

The 6800 Ultra was truly a classic card. :)

Worst swap I've seen since years, they really should give you something better.

For comparison: When my BFG 6800GT OC (one down from your Ultra) died, they sent me a BFG 7800GS OC (one up from the 7600 they sent you) when I RMA'ed it. That was a pretty fair swap I'd say. Just fair, not an upgrade or downgrade. They downgraded you 2 steps on the ladder.

You got robbed if a 6800 Ultra was swapped for a 7600.

Yup. I sent it back to them and they sent me a 7800GS OC with a fan that sounds like a jet airplane!...That over heats the card and crashes my system when playing games. Nice.

So I've now returned again, expecting them to send me another 7800GS OC which I'm going to sell because you can't replace the fans on these cards due to the small chip on them that enables it to function in an AGP slot. :thumbdwn:

ATi here I come :(

BFG really sounds like scams. Good thing that I bought EVGA.

But can't you literally sue them for this? Such a big company being so fraudulent, this is not like a dollar bill for two quarters in a convince shop (which is fraudulent too). BFG is a big company and are "more" legally liable for their actions.

They gave him a 7800 now.

Didn't he say it overheats and crashes?

He should turn the fan speed up and see. For one thing, he would have no legal grounds to sue on, and for another, why spend so much time worrying about an $80 card?

If it overheats and shuts down his system then the replacement card is not good enough. That is the legal ground.

So a defective card is legal grounds? lol

I guess getting a cheeseburger with too many onions is legal ground as well to sue McDs? :p
