As HD-DVD players have dropped below $200, Blu-ray is starting the feel the pressure. In one such move, Kmart has decided to drop Blu-ray players from its stores, mostly because of pricing.

The post says it as if it is fact, but gives no references. However, if it is true, and things continue in this manner, the BD format may be in for some additional worry. As we all know, consumers are more than happy to buy formats that might die, IF it is cheap.

One thing to keep in mind, though. Kmart = Sears also.

You are correct, it is not exclusive. However, if Kmart keeps selling the PS3 and drops all stand alone BD players, the topic is still correct. (I still have no idea why I put two 'p's in dropps.)

For those who can read PRSpeak, basically HD DVD has with Kmart/Sears the same deal that BD has with Target. They won't sell BD standalones but they will sell PS3 & BD software - just like Target sells the 360 HD Addon & HD DVD software.
