As the title says....

I just switched back to 1303...I did not have a stable overclock with the 1305....

I'm still on the 1102. I don't see a 1303. There's the 1301 (beta) and the 1305 but i've not bothered updating yet.

What was the prob with the 1305? I've been meaning to update for a while but I don't see alot of point if all is well, and it is. I'll probably give it a go sometime but I can't be bothered going through the OC rigmarole again.

Right now, I am at 1344....When I used the 1305, I could not go over 1333 stable.

I gota chuckle to my self every time i read these threads about the strikers and stable FSB. In case you guys didn't know they are totally worthless for the Q series ;)

There is a voltage regulator mod you can do for the kentsfeild quads if you wish to OC them. but other then that the strikers are duds :thumbdwn:

QFT. I can't believe the board is so hyped.

tobe honest I am looking for a 680i mobo and the EVGA A1 is the only choice. My quad will do 3.6 on air at 60C load and maybe more but i never tried. I need to find a mb that can keep up with this thing and the striker doesn't stand a chance!

I remember reading over on XtremeSystems Forums that the 1303 is the best one to use when I was messing around with the Striker. I had my CPU up to a x12 which was 3.2 ghz with np, going 13 was 3.4ghz but was unstable, 14 was a no post.

Also I believe there is a FSB memory hole in there someplace.

People over on http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/index.php where getting some pretty good speeds with the same setup. Itís worth while to go over there and take a look.

Here is one

And another good one

But I am no OCing expert, just learning atm :)

Okay, I don't know how the options are setup in your bios but I am going off of another Asus guide from a 680i board similar to yours...

from what I've been reading most people prefer the 1301 bios for overclocking as it seems to be giving most people the highest stable clocks compared to the 1303 or 1305 version bios.

Disable the following...
Nvidia GPU Ex
Linkboost(may not even be an option anymore)
Spread Spectrum Control(like three of four of these, disable all)
Execute Disable Bit
Virtualization Technology
Enhanced Intel Speedstep
Enhanced C1 (C1E)
Legacy USB Support
HPET

set your vcore to 1.4v

do you have a "CPU VTT" option? if so it should be enabled and set to 1.55v

Set your memory to Linked and synced(or 1:1 if you don't have the sync option). Disable any SLI memory option, set all the timings to default(you can adjust these after you find a nice stable clock).

go to your system voltages in the bios and try this...

vcore - 1.4v
HT voltage - 1.3v
nb core - 1.4v
sb core - 1.5v

try dropping your multiplier down to x8 and setting your fsb to something like 1500 and see if it will boot(you'll be running 375 Mhz fsb instead of 326)

if that doesn't work try something like 1333 on the x8 multiplier... you shouldn't have any problem booting from that... keep raising it until you find the highest stable clock.... if you want you can try it on the x9 but if you are already having problems hitting 1344 I doubt you will hit over 1500 fsb on the 9x multi, who knows, could be your voltages....

anyways give that a shot and let me know how it works out...

While the Striker is good for overlocking Core 2 Duos I've read that the board seems to have some difficulty in overclocking quads.

I am using the 1303 with a QX6850 and are stable at 3.6 Ghz on Air.

Can some one post the 1301 Bios.

** Edit** I get a higher more stabel FSB using 1303 bios.
