I am surprised how very low price Phenom X4 really are, boxed Phenom X4 9500 cost same as Athlon 64 X2 6400+ OEM.

AMD told they expect to ship in hundred of thousands units in November and December but at very low price it do not look like they will make big revenue to make a profit. Quad core Phenom cost half price of about 315 I paid for new released Athlon 64 X2 4400+ OEM in 2005, the retail boxed Athlon 64 X2 4400+ was cost 450+.

I searched Froogle and found some retailers listed Phenom:

HD9500WCGDBOX (http://www.google.com/products?q=HD9500WCGDBOX&btnG=Search&show=dd&scoring=p) $260.94-$281.95
HD9600WCGDBOX (http://www.google.com/products?q=HD9600WCGDBOX&btnG=Search&show=dd&scoring=p) $291.50-$319.99
HD9700XAGDBOX (http://www.google.com/products?q=HD9700XAGDBOX&btnG=Search+Products&scoring=p) $302-$329.99

Maybe here will be Quad core price war coming soon.

Not bad at all.

Should be a decent alternative at least.

I really doubt it'll win over the enthusiast market but at least they are keeping up with pricing and improving the performance.

They're all priced quite close together, models slower than 2.4GHz just don't seem viable in the current marketplace. The 9700 should be decent though, still I think I'll wait for something more mature before considering AMD. Once the faster models are out next year there might be a nice 2.4GHz chip that overclocks nicely.

Oh god yeah don't remind me, in 2005 i paid 366 for a retail box 4400+ newcastle core CPU very 1st batch preorded it, damn that was alot at least they seem a little bit more resonably priced now. But i won't spend that much on a CPU anymore.

only reason why they are resonable, because intel is bashing AMD to the ground

when AMD had the upper hand, their prices where much higher.

Yeah and intel has plans on pushing their high end CPU's into the $1499 mark, up from their current $999. So if AMD does bad or goes under we all are well and truly screwed, you can expect to pay for high end CPU's in the $2000+ mark.
