Yea we all knew the game looked too good back then, but crytek said they disabled the highest shader setting cause there is no hardware today available that would work satisfying, they will though when hardware matures enable that setting later on.

It's just the lighting...
I don't know if it can be made to look as good as the first screenshot but it can certainly be made to look better than the second.

No No I was just curious - and again what system is the guy who is playing the game in the video you linked... That guy must have a system of Jesus to run the game at 27+ FPS.

I don't know his system specs.

Actually I remember seeing video's of the Crysis Direct x 10 supposed in game footage in the jungle settings like that first screen shot you posted.

They claimed in game footage back then, and it seemed to be running ok, now they say they disabled the highest quality setting, but even the setting we CAN access looks nothing like those old vids, somethings not right?

Actually here you go, video from E3 showing jungle fight direct x 9 vs direct x 10 version looking a lot like your nice screenshot...

you expose a big issue. crysis looks nothing like what was promised and the supposed dx10 "everything will look much better and use much less resources" was a total lie.

crysis in it's current form is not a revolution in graphics. it's a mere evolution. increase the poly count, add a few effects like very limited moving foliage etc. nothing that couldn't be done in dx9 as already proven.

slowly but surely we are seeing the hype for what it is. hype.

Despite everything, I still think the graphics are just great, and even better I love the gameplay.

It very much like it was promised. You just have different settings in the game with different atmospheres..we have seen just one level.

And where did Crytek state that DX10 look much better? They said many times that DX10 does'nt make much difference regarding the effects. Only the performance will be better.
Of course, the performance currently is rather worse than DX9.

Where is the difference?

increase the poly count, add a few effects like very limited moving foliage etc. nothing that couldn't be done in dx9 as already proven.

1. Even if you suddenly could render real life images it would only mean an increased poly count and new effects

2. All foliage is moving

3. It was stated many times that DX10 would offer performance increases and not (many) new effects.

The only promise that wasn't kept is the DX10 performance...

slowly but surely we are seeing the hype for what it is. hype.

What can hype be other than hype?

That comparision is nothing but :bs: and same quality screenshots can be made with the demo as well as I said previously here:

the trees in the screen shot and demo look different. Since we don't have the full game yet, its hard to tell if the screenshot is just a different level featuring dense inland jungle. The lighting is possible if the area is heavily shadowed by trees or something.. nothing in the demo had quite a dense gathering of trees so.. dunno.

Chrisimo, what are you doing to get that great jungle fog/haze effect so thick? My Very High doesn't look like that at all?

The shots are not from me but from the video I posted earlier in this thread. The map and time-of-day settings were made by verw3948 from incrysis.com

See this thread

http://incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=12333

He has posted his time-of-day settings on page 2.

I think the haze effect could be done with the sunlight intensity modifiers in combination with fog.

verw3948 adjusted the fog values and sun angle in the editor to have a better comparision.

The pictures Mr_LoL and Chrisimo posted are great. They (owned) the person who made the original comparison.

I dunno guys, but I really think the full game is going to be a completely different story, demo might just be based on the early beta build? Forcing us to upgrade hardware, a conspiracy, and then when the full game hits, were all stuck with GTX SLI, and 80fps. :p

Hmm.... even so, they may get a couple of little tricks but the NV users are still getting double the frame rates.

Fevy:

- The glass texture is definitely being rendered, I just tried it out.
- The "white snow" on the trees is a known bug when you force 16AF in the DX10 path.
- The water reflection is the only thing I didn't check closely but it actually looks better in the NV comparison anyway, so what? :p

I agree 100%.

I remember seeing this video and saying " no way it looks like this when it hits shelves"

Gee big suprise.

I totally agree, its a small step not the giant leap they made it seem like. (or half the members on this forum make it seems like)

I feel the foliage is less detailed as well.

Did you actually read anything in this thread other than the post you replied to?

There is no indication yet that it won't look as good as in the videos...
