The story is at xbit labs http://xbitlabs.com/news/video/display/20071105054143_ATI_Readies_Ultra_High_End__R680__G raphics_Solution__Presentation_Slide.html will be very interesting if true. Im sure alot of people are like me and have been sitting on their 8800gtx's waiting on something new, if Nvidia can't deliver i guess its back to Ati for me. I was sure Nvidia would release something for crysis but it looks like Ati got sneaky and kept their mouth shut and is ready to announce a monster card this month for release by the end of the year.
Never know maybe it will be like the 8800 gtx and surprise us with awesome performance.
Been hoping ati could get their sh1t together as we need 2 at least in the video card market to keep prices down and innovation high.
Here's hoping.

Looks like it's just to compete with what Nvidia is going to release soon for that much it better perform better than anything out right now.

Maybe not. Even if it's only slightly faster, it might force Nvidia to release the 9800GTX. I personally think the card is ready, but not launched because they are No1 already...

And don't forget there is Crossfire support for us X38 users. A couple of these in a working Crossfire configuration could be very nice indeed. However, at $800 each, I should not need two cards. Thats expensive.

Agreed, $1600 in gpu's just to play some video games=ignorant.

I do however hope to see something nice from ATI/AMD. They need the sales and we need competition.

$799? This thing better perform three times better than the 8800GT.

Even the 8800GTX doesn't perform 2x times better than the 8800GT :)

$800 :wtf:

If it's not faster than an 8800 Ultra I'm going to LMAO.

Exactly.

No doubt i'll be getting that card if its decently faster than my Oced Ultra. (assuming the rumor is true of course!)

This card better be awesome, and come out very soon. Hopefully that pressure will be back like old times again.

Which...is definitly needed!

Im gonna hold out and see what NV answeres back with. My 8800GTX is still serving me very well so I am in no big hurry.

Even if they do release it there is no way I would be buying it. $800 for a video card is just not reasonable right now. It would literally need to run Crysis at a constant 60 fps at super-high resolutions with 16x AF, 8x AA, and maxed in-game settings for me to even contemplate such a purchase.

i have a feeling the price is wrong or ati is smoking something.
I doubt they would sell enough at that price point to even pay for the engineering it took to make it.

Either the whole slide is a fake or just a pricing typo.
Sure would be nice to have some choices again like back in the 9700pro and 9800 days.

I wish it's true, even at this price point. It will force nVidia to move. But performance of this card should be at least on par with SLI 8800GTX

Let's wait and see. That card has to be crazy fast before I even consider going back to ATI...

If its so fast in Crysis everybody well shell for it regardless the price , but i can reckon it wont.

AMD can only cry wolf so many times, they better hit a home run or there in hot water @ NVNEWS. :D

I'll never buy anything from AMD/ATI. They are through with me after the countless broken promises and lies and annoying FUD they spread everywhere. Thats my personal decision though.

Nvidia has been on a winning track since they released the 6800's, and I have no doubt that they will continue on this path. AMD needs to throw out something huge to rattle Nvidia's cage. If they don't, Nvidia will walk all over them... again. :(
